Rooney's Ears Posted September 23 Posted September 23 The referee appointments for the Grand Final qualifiers have been confirmed. The Rugby Football League have appointed Aaron Moore from Wigan to take control of Toulouse Olympique vs Bradford Bulls on Sunday evening. Whilst Leeds based Tom Grant will officiate York Knights vs Halifax Panthers on Saturday night. This will be the first time this season that either Aaron or Tom have officiated in the Rugby League Championship. CHAMPIONS 2005
Rooney's Ears Posted September 25 Posted September 25 Doesn't look like we will sell the pre book seats out, suddenly lots of seats came available again, most of these were gone - CHAMPIONS 2005

No Halifax block sold out, no York block sold out yet. Is it the Saturday? Do some of the casual attendees last game know that there is still more to play for? Speaking to non rugby friends around York they mostly thought season was over after we won "that shield last week" and seems to have been a lack of social media posting.
Rooney's Ears Posted September 25 Posted September 25 YCFC play away at 5.30pm on Saturday so could have a bit of an effect on numbers. Halifax FC are at home on Saturday. CHAMPIONS 2005
KH17 Posted September 25 Posted September 25 George Whitby not been named in Saints squad for this weekend. Not sure if I'm on my own in thinking it, but dual reg is a joke. Players should either be signed permanently or loaned to clubs for a set period of time (longer than 2 weeks aswell) Fingers crossed we don't give him the chance to influence the game like he did against Oldham. 1
Rooney's Ears Posted September 25 Posted September 25 Woodburn-Hall misses out due to failed HIA CHAMPIONS 2005
georgeb1 Posted September 25 Posted September 25 Great to see keiran hudson back in the squad , the stand ins have done admirably, but a big bruiser is what we need to really have the edge. 2

I have stated My views on DR far too many times to mention again suffice to say I am not a fan, it is absolutely wrong to play DR players in play off and cup matches, it is just wrong no matter how you look at it. 1

I agree, but why worry about one player. We have one or two who can influence a game more than he can. 4

Personally I think we have sufficient skill in our team to take on anyone in this league, and you can only play what is in front of you, as we have seen in the past 1 player doesn’t make a team, my objection is the principle of DR , generally it is of more benefit to the donor club, it is grossly unfair to players of the host club who have to make way to accommodate the DR player, it is also unsettling to the squad when players get parachuted in for one, two or three games, and can be recalled at a moments notice, unlike proper loan arrangements when they usually come in for a reasonable length of time, or are being brought in to cover injuries. There are certain clubs in the Championship who bring in DR players and send their own players out on loan, that cannot be right. The minimum should be a couple of months at least. 1

I am sure that is something the Independent panel who are reviewing the Super League applications will take into account..
DEANO Posted September 25 Posted September 25 Think everyone knows my views. Hated it when we used it in 2018. It exists only to benefit super league or lower levels of rugby as in York and Newcastle sometimes you have to take a step backwards to move forward

Sad really for a major semi final. Their seats were released for anybody from noon today.
Rooney's Ears Posted September 26 Posted September 26 That is a shame that so many season ticket holders released their seats, hope they are still attending but sat somewhere else in the stand. CHAMPIONS 2005

How can they not be there after the season we've had, plus the importance of the game 1
Mick the Miller Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Some people won't realise their seats have been made available if not using social media. No emails were sent out advising them of the noon deadline. They will probably just turn up on the day and sit where they can. 2

I tried to buy my season ticket seat on line on Monday but for some reason the web page thing kept kicking me out but then said the seat was sold or being held in the end I had to ring the club shop to buy it, it’s not the first time either, which isn’t good. Hopefully, all the usual suspects will be in their seats come game day. From what Clint said in his interview this week it is something of an experiment playing on Saturday evening, he thinks the atmosphere under the lights etc will be better - might be a sign of things to come.
