Hard to call this one but I suspect Toulouse will have too much. Yesterday’s match was entertaining but low on skill. I think Fax saved their best (or were allowed to play their best) for against us. It all seems a bit pointless for the neutral given that there’s no promotion riding on it.

Probably won’t need to open the away end.

Looking at the highlights of York against Halifax, I don't think there was more than 1200 home supporters.  If fans are allowed in the stand where the TV crews are based, my guess would of course be way out, however there is no spectator noise from that particular stand.  I personally believe York deserve promotion on finishing top of the league as I don't believe in play off rugby. However in my opinion, York has never been a hotbed of RL and will never generate a big fan base.  We at Oldham have just reawoken after years of being on life support.  Our crowds are bigger, forget what size crowds York publish, indeed do they count their crowds including those watching on YouTube? Therefore if York and Say London are promoted, average SL crowds are going to drop big time.  Both of these teams have little to non existent away support.  Will any of these points be looked at by those deciding on who is promoted, I think not.  The circus of RL continues

The final is rightly between ths top 2 with Bradford unable to hang onto a big half time lead (16 nil).

In terms of the wider context it will highlight the other side of the equation in terms of crowd's and financial contribution.

I listened to the total RL podcast whilst I was out and about earlier.  The guest was Steve Mcnamara who was the long standing  coach at the catalans.

He described his frustration at having to sell his fullback to Hull KR for financial reasons.. catalans are not only funding there own high travel costs but also those of their opponents.. and there was even a suggestion that SL clubs were looking for a cut of away supporters gate income.. the conclusion? SL clubs were looking to push the Cats away.. which long winded post means that it's highly unlikely that Toulouse will be added into SL.

York have little or no history of success or support but I suspect few could argue having built over time. 1895 cup.. league leaders shield and home advantage in the final.

Be very interesting to see the size of the crowd at next week's final.  York against Toulouse

I am sure York fans will swear the ground will full. The reality is there will be the usual small crowd there. I find it unbelievable the league allow them to not publish their crowds. It is just open to lying and cheating.
plus, they are  not playing us or Bradford who pad out their poor fan base.

There was over 3k there.

The main stand holds 3500 and that was almost full.

Just been watching the highlights on YouTube, the main stand is no where near full and Halifax brought a sizable following behind the sticks to boost the crowd numbers.

Something looks strange about the viewing figures for the Toulouse game on their YouTube channel.  They currently show an amazing figure of over 140000 views. On a typical match this would be a tiny fraction of this figure.  To cap it all, the streaming was horrendous, kept freezing and became unwatchable.  As there are less than 10 comments on the channel comment section, this massive figure doesn't seem logical.  With a viewing audience that big and having issues with the streaming, the comments section would be in the thousands.  Can someone explain what is going on , or is it more manipulative actions for the eyes of the IMG panel.  This is becoming farcical.  Just go back to promotion and relegation for goodness sake.

That will be my fault…I turned it on and off 139,999 times to try and get it to work. It didn’t.

Had a look at the highlights - 2 blocks either end nearly entirely empty, thats at least 500 seats unfilled between them two alone, 2 blocks inside of those empty ones could fit both of them into less that one of them, approx 600 empty seats between them, plenty of seats in hospitality, can see plenty of seats throughout the stand - main stand maybe had 2000 in it based on back of napkins math.

Fax travelled strong but had to find a clip to make a guess.

Just out of interest, how many times have Oldham had more than 2,500 at their home games? How many were there at the Halifax play off game? I don't get this interest in the attendances. York fans are as annoyed as anybody that we don't publish our attendances, but in my honest opinion, other teams fans are clutching at straws to look for reasons why the team who finished top of the league, and won the 1895 cup should not get promoted.

the main stand holds 3700, the south stand ( fax fans ) 1800 ,about 2600 york fans, 400 fax in attendance.

decent attendance for a saturday eve k o , certainly bigger than anything oldham have produced this year.

I agree with what you say about York’s attendance it should be far better than what it is with the quality of rugby. Do you feel that each club has a hardcore support and the key to success is tapping into the casual fans or the fans who have fallen out with the clubs due to bad management under different ownership which at York we have had in the past.

You at Oldham have had a fantastic season made some massive signings and really pushed the boat out trying to promote Oldham and after all you are in a “rugby town “ as you keep saying. You also struggle with attendance looking at the published attendance for your home league games your averaging 1665 per game only 11 games are listed the Sheffield game is not listed but when I watched the highlights earlier this season the crowd looked very sparse so will probably bring the average down do you think this is good enough for the entertainment you have been given??

As rugby fans and members of this forum we are already converted so we need no convincing the million dollar question is how do you get more fans for any club? Even your own chairman appealed for more support from your rugby town.

As a sport we need more people like your chairman to invest money into the sport promote let other people see how good a sport it is but as fans of every club we need to get ourselves to the grounds ideally bring a friend or two.

On a final note I didn’t think we would be in the grand final after the hiding you gave us in the first match you ripped us apart that day.

Spot on with what you say. Good luck in the final, however as I have said for a long time, the team who finishes top of the league deserves automatic promotion.  Play offs in the championship are a waste of time and should be scrapped.  You are champions, well done and you deserve to be promoted.
