Yeah agree, as you say get a juniors game on before kick off rather than at half time though to encourage the families to come along and watch the games. I remember this being done at the old Ryedale Stadium and it attracted a lot of families who were already in the ground before the normal turnstile opening time. Still think they should offer YCFC season ticket holders £10 entrance fee. CHAMPIONS 2005
HaxbyKnight Posted September 29 Posted September 29 The Championship's top 2 teams, top 2 points scorers, 4 of the top 6 try scorers, and the 2 top goalkickers. Plenty of promotional material there, Get flyers all over Monks Cross, Vanguard, Designer Outlet and Clifton Moor, in the pubs and sports clubs, and use the Press. Remember not everybody uses social media.

The Knights have not increased match day prices, although I'm sure many other clubs would have done. To be honest our own season ticket holders don't get a discount, and while it may boost the attendance, I wouldn't be offering discounts elsewhere for this game. Edited September 29 by HaxbyKnight 3

Surely / hopefully we can get a bigger crowd than on Saturday against Halifax. I was in EG and the stand seemed pretty full but then you see the highlights and it was barely half full.

Not sure that playing on the Saturday was the right thing to do really, there's quite a crossover of City & Knights fans who favour the football, their game being played at 5.30pm and on the TV definitely cost us a fair few through the gate. I know a few who would have been at the game who stayed in to watch the football. Add that to the people who favour going out on the ale on a Saturday or had other stuff booked in and you can probably knock a few hundred off the gate. There's nothing else going on on a Sunday at 2pm though, even the Bradford fans will be at a loose end. 2 http://www.alldesignandprint.co.uk Printing & Graphic Design with Nationwide Service Programmes | Leaflets | Cards | Banners & Flags | Letterheads | Tickets | Magazines | Folders | Brand Identity plus much more Official Matchday Programme Print & Design Partner to York City Knights, Heworth ARLFC, York Acorn RLFC & Hunslet RLFC Official Player Sponsor of Marcus Stock for the 2020 Season

SUPERSTUD Posted September 29 Posted September 29 Big crowd test this for York. Surely the York public will dip their hands in their affluent pockets for a home based Grand Final. Difficult to put the prices up when the club are already charging £22 entry fee. If York are serious about entering Super League then the fan base needs to grow. I just can’t see where the increase in numbers is going to come from.

Me attending will not increase the York fan base going forward. I was really disappointed regarding how many York supporters turned out against Halifax. You have understandably attempted to cover it and dress it up re York City away and kick off time etc. But in reality you know the overall numbers are concerning. Ordinarily you may counter it by saying a higher league, better players will definitely improve attendances. But without freebies being dished out I am not too sure. Been going on for too long.

Do you know what the attendance was? you seem knowledgeable about our club, Going by the TV camera's its hard to tell as its a big stand that holds i think 3500 people, the stand Halifax was in is small so makes it look like more as they spread out further along the stand. KnightsDadFan Posted September 29 Posted September 29 Controlled growth. No point in saying free entry if your in the ground before 1pm cause it's 2x £5 on Santis sambuca or thommos tequila's. You end up with big peaks but huge dips on your lower end fixtures as people expect the freebies and there are big variables eg weather. it's not a business model you can budget with or show an independent panel your planned finances for next 3 years. We've got a steady 1800-2000 most games rain or shine now I think. It's gone up about 250 a season the past 2/3 years it's all controlled and measurable. Jorvik wasn't built in a day. 5

I've been to Hull KR and Leigh in the past and there's been less than 2000 there, similarly, Bradford now get less than a quarter of what they got 20 years ago, yet people go on about their big crowds and how much they'll bring to SL. We are getting 5x what we were 10 years ago and have grown as a club year on year but everyone in losing their mind cos we aren't getting 8k in the Championship right now. If the bloke who's running the club isn't concerned about attendances, I don't know why supporters of other clubs get their knickers in such a twist about them. Maybe it's because that's all they've got to knock us for now, little old York who used to be the easy-beats have now got their act together and winning things while their club just plods about. 10 http://www.alldesignandprint.co.uk Printing & Graphic Design with Nationwide Service Programmes | Leaflets | Cards | Banners & Flags | Letterheads | Tickets | Magazines | Folders | Brand Identity plus much more Official Matchday Programme Print & Design Partner to York City Knights, Heworth ARLFC, York Acorn RLFC & Hunslet RLFC Official Player Sponsor of Marcus Stock for the 2020 Season

Rooney's Ears Posted September 29 Author Posted September 29 South Stand now open to York fans. Promising. 1 CHAMPIONS 2005
AB Knight Posted September 29 Posted September 29 Attendances, one of my famous topics. Interestingly, here’s the percentage change from 2017 to the last ‘reported’ average attendances a couple of months ago *I chose 2017 as that’s when the current Bradford Bulls club were formed, York’s first season under new ownership (Jon Flatman), and Halifax’s joint best Championship season (3rd) York +108% Halifax +13% Bradford -14% 2 2

Simon Hall Posted September 29 Posted September 29 Unless we sell out the ground twice over, put up a 10k capacity fanzone outside, have all the local pubs and cinemas showing the game then there’ll still be some bad meff from West Yorkshire saying “YoUVe GOt nO fANs lol” 1 http://www.alldesignandprint.co.uk Printing & Graphic Design with Nationwide Service Programmes | Leaflets | Cards | Banners & Flags | Letterheads | Tickets | Magazines | Folders | Brand Identity plus much more Official Matchday Programme Print & Design Partner to York City Knights, Heworth ARLFC, York Acorn RLFC & Hunslet RLFC Official Player Sponsor of Marcus Stock for the 2020 Season

Why would the powers that be ie big Nige pick York over Bradford? 1
