With 9K unsold tickets, ask yourself what might be gained by Wigan going public in their response to Degsy being an after-hours pram-toy ######.

As has already been pointed out. Clarification of their position. Not everything is a conspiracy.

Derek is that you? Because this is all very Dunning-Kruger effect type nonsense.

I'm not sure you're in PR or Marketing but putting a statement out basically saying that the game might not go ahead is not a great strategy for selling tickets.

It didn't need a public statement on their website to do that.

Wigan released the statement to shut Derek up and own the narrative - not to create publicity.

Also, I think this goes back to the recent SL vote with Wigan taking the opportunity to show just how stupid and irresponsible one of the ringleaders is

Of course it did. What would you propose they have done then?

As PR stunts go there are infinitely better ways to have done this than making fans think twice about buying tickets because a match is in jeopardy. Tickets were selling well as is, 3k were sold in the 24 hours before this. This isn't any sort of genius marketing move.

Yes they have.

Looks like they have another 3000 members who want tickets who can’t have them so potentially an away following over 7500.

Tough in reality, but Wigan need to sell out in my opinion to justify it, especially with it being a shared gate.

Not if the safety officer involved said no, which the statement clearly shows they did.going against their recommendations would likely invalidate the stadiums insurance.

Go on, then. Name one.

Can someone tell me what we were all moaning about this morning, I've forgotten,

I am looking forward to the game, it will be played. Sky will lap this up and play on the battle of the borough. I would ramp it up even more ,the battle of the postcodes WN1 verses WN7 our own SOO , Suburb of origin.

Coggo is Derek or someone on his behalf, typing this from under the bedsheet he's been hiding under since approx. 10:37pm last night.

'But, but you're all stupid - this is marketing genius, you fools, why can't you see?'

That might carry a bit more weight if, unless i'm mistaken (and happy to retract) away teams don't make money from ticket sales? So what, he's trying to help Wigan out is he? Absolute head-the-ball of a bloke.

Edit: Someone has said it is a shared gate. Never knew that - presumably because it's a semi?

No, Wigan are the geniuses here (by going public with it and getting on the top rung on the BBC Sport website for a game that it had previously given zero publicity)

It's time for BeauPeep to show his true colours. He's said they are going to withdraw, so if he doesn't stick to that, he's showing everyone that he's a blowhard choker. Stick to your guns, you Old Toper, stick to your guns.

I imagine it went something like this-

Mike Danson- "Kris, how can we shift more tickets for this game?"

Kris Radlinksi- "well funnily enough, Derek emailed me saying he's not happy he can't have more tickets, so if we pretend it might not be on, loads of people will dash out and buy them because we know full well, there is a huge appetite for watching grass growing on a field"

Mike Danson- "Your the man Kris"

They'll be queuing round the block as we speak!
