Edit: Someone has said it is a shared gate. Never knew that - presumably because it's a semi?

The ticket revenue for all the play-off games is pooled into the overall prize pool.

Go on, then. Name one.

Yes, I wasn't going to go but now there's a chance the game will be off* I'm going to buy tickets right away.

* I'd concur with the general opinion here that the game will be on as even Beaumont isn't daft enough to actually follow through.

It's moved up a spot.

Hats off to Wigan, you just can't buy that sort of publicity 👏

Publicity for a game that now people think might not happen. Why would you buy now?

I thought the play-off gates went into a big RFL pot, actually. Can't be bothered to look it up and I'm not even sure that the shared gate rules are published any more.

But it's definitely not all Wigan's money.  How would Leigh pay their players' wages ?   Why would any away team turn up ?

Because you may now be aware of it thanks to hours of free, prime-time national publicity and reaction on social media.

Even this is ridiculous. It should be very simple. Leigh play the scheduled game or forfeit the semi allowing Wigan to progress. And start 2026 with a significant points defeceit.

With 9K unsold tickets, ask yourself what might be gained by Wigan going public in their response to Degsy's after-hours pram-toy toss.

Given that Wigan had been informed in writing that Leigh didn't intend to fulfil the fixture, they couldn't really just sit there and go "oh, that's just Derek on the ###### again, ignore it".

Because you're a Rhinos supporter ?

Even as a Leeds fan I tend to agree. Our players haven't trained at all this week, will be on mad Monday mode so to speak - its not normal whatever happens.

I think the highest placed loser is the best way if they want a game to go ahead.

But I think the fairest way is as you say.

The Wikipedia entry for this season is going to be interesting.

*Wigan progressed through their semi-final after Derek Beaumont threw his toys out of the pram. The RFL (big Nige) tried to talk him round but Derek was having none of it and said he hadn't been this insulted since being thrown out of the directors box at Catalans

They didn't have to go public with a detailed statement.

Also, I think this goes back to the recent SL vote with Wigan taking the opportunity to show just how stupid and irresponsible one of the ringleaders is

It would be priceless if .......

Radlinski 'Degsy old mate, I've a great idea to raise the profile of the game.'

Beaumont 'I thought you had an issue with me'

Radders 'Water under the bridge me old mate. Listen.  Send Wigan an email saying that Leigh needs more tickets.  We will then respond saying that because Leigh are an exceptionally well run and supported club, we grossly misjudged the amount of tickets you wanted and we will give you an extra two thousand tickets. That will make headlines.'

Beaumont 'Brilliant'.  Cogs start whirring in his head.  'How about ...... How about this.  I could also pretend that we will be very angry and refuse to give Wigan any tickets for future games at our place if we do not get more tickets'.

Radders. 'Hmmmm.  Need something better than that Degsy.  Why not say for example, something like ....... Leigh will forfeit the game if tickets are not forthcoming.  That should send social media into a frenzy.  Then twenty four hours later Wigan will say it was just a promotional wheeze'.

Beaumont. 'Fantastic Kris.  I'll do it right away.  Isn't it great when we work together.'

Radders to the Wigan PR team.  'We have him by the short and curlies now.  Get the press release ready'.

A game will be played.   There is a contract with Sky to be fulfilled.

On at the same time as the play off is not only a Premier League match but also Wrexham v Birmingham in the EFL,ie Ryan Reynolds v Payton Manning teams. Sky would never have given the RL much of a build up, they will now!

Genius Degsy😉

He didn’t have to threaten to withdraw the team.
