Imagine what Sky are thinking. The guy has previously taken public pot shots at their organisation and is now threatening to call off probably the second biggest game of the season on their platform.

This is one of the main power brokers in this reset RFL administration. I am astonished at the level of self sabotage going on. Viewing figures are up, crowds are up, clubs are raising standards across the board, why are we in crisis?

You know what, I think Sky love stuff like this. It adds drama and a storyline to the match (which will happen) and Carney and Wilkin will absolutely love tearing Leigh limb from limb on the night.

On the other hand, it obviously kneecaps the work of RL Commercial in others in their attempts to sell us to broadcasters and partners as a serious sport.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

Wigan are in the right.

Ground holds 25k ish.

They only have to give a 2500 allocation.

The stadium safety officer was an ex police officer who's fully up to speed on these things.

If what has been written is true then Derek doesn't have a leg to stand on.

That's true if we assume the ground will be sold out and thus Wigan are making a good offer of more than the 10% they are obliged..   I assume it won't be sold out as to why Wigan have increased the number of tickets to Leigh.

That's not to say I agree with what has been reported with regards Leigh owner which seems a bit crazy.

Will be interesting to see how full the stadium is on game day and as to whether Wigan could have offered more tickets.

Hes also brought the game into disrepute several times

He has yes, but that doesn’t mean what I said isn’t correct. SL is better for Degsy’s Leigh being in it than without, well it was before this morning anyway.

This is the person that gets a free pass by friends in the RL media and is influential in shaping the future direction of the game away from the process that has led to great improvements this year on just about every metric.

Wakey back in now.

The RFL should pull the rug from under Beaumont's feet, say they have therefore cancelled Leigh's fixture and they will be replaced by Wakefield.

Ellis will have to get his players back from holiday now.

Agreed, Sky will see a story and an angle they can use beyond the Battle of the Borough stuff.

But it does cause reputational harm.

Wigan have also made him look pretty daft with their considered response.

Not really, if Leigh wanted more of their fans to be there live they should have done better during the year to ensure the match was played at their home.

They've offered to give them unreserved seating in the North Stand of 4,600 or reserved seating of 5,400. They didn't say which Leigh opted for but the safety officer won't allow them to offer any more in other stands and that is his call.

It won't be full but that isn't really the point.

The Leopards rebrand is undoubtedly good tbf.

The name leopards is fine........the logo is awful....the leopard print is awful.

Next years kit is made by Derek Beaumont's sports (set up your own sports co if you want but DEBEAU sports? Come on)

The success of Leigh is down to investment in playing squad and winning games..........not plastering leopard print over everything.

Suppose it depends on your point of view but for me in terms of branding it's a horrible execution of an ok idea.

Kneecaps seems excessive as it's simply the latest (possibly alcohol-fuelled) dummy-spit by a colourful club chairman with a history of attention-seeking behaviour/being a prat (delete as appropriate).

Wigan called his bluff for the lols.

It's nothing to wet the bed about.

Correct - if Leigh had been a flop the branding would not be hailed as a success.

It may be my club but Wigan are very professional in what they are done and are very well run since Danson took over. They do all the little things right, even just the small details like when they commemorate rival players and send them gifts for milestones.

The contrast between that professional, well run approach and the frankly amateur one here is stark.

This so utterly ridiculous that it can't be real - except it's rugby league. I think I'll stop trying to convince people that this is a serious sport, it's not like I get any help from our leadership.

Masterplan to capture casual sports viewers from the Premier League  match on at the same time,  which is a middling sort of offering.

Im sure plenty of Leigh fans will buy direct from Wigan if they are genuinely likely to sell out their allocation. Which I'm sure is what happens when Leigh have played Wigan in the league. Is this maybe DeBeau's way of trying to generate a bit more income? thinking he could sell more than the allocated 5400.

What away following do Leigh usually take to Wigan games?

As a leeds supporter, Wigan were traditionally our team that we loved to hate.

That has changed massively in the last few years, Wigan from top to bottom are a class outfit and I wish Kris Radlinski was running the game to be honest.

Indeed. He made an empty threat, possibly under the influence of alcohol, and Wigan have gone public with it. A normal person would be embarrassed by it, but I doubt he'll care.

We've had a discussion on here before about how difficult a journey it is on a Thursday night, so presumably not many.

Yes, Wigan are setting the bar again in terms of culture and performance right now.

To me there could be ethical or operational reasons to withdraw in sport, but it’s a drastic action of last resort for anyone.

To do it over away ticket allocation when the rationale is reasonable is just not rational and belittles the sport.

All banter innit. That's what it will get twisted to.

I get that, but the fans have bought into it massively so surely it’s a success. At the CC final there was leopard print everywhere. I bet they sell more merch than if they’d stuck with the Centurians.
