Damien Posted October 1, 2025 Posted October 1, 2025 (edited) RL Commercial agree Reddit partnership: Rugby League Commercial have agreed a groundbreaking partnership with the social media platform Reddit ahead of next Saturday’s Betfred Super League Grand Final. Super League has had a growing presence on Reddit through the 2025 season, as supporters have used the platform to form communities and discuss tries, tackles and matches – with the dramatic climax to last Saturday’s eliminator at Leeds lifting engagement to a new level as there have been well over 60,000 views of St Helens’ match-winning try – Reddit’s best performing piece of Rugby League match content. More than 40,000 fans have joined Super League’s subreddit, and Hull KR, Leeds Rhinos and Wigan Warriors have successfully engaged with AMAs (Ask Me Anythings). The Grand Final partnership will kick off with Ask Me Anything opportunities at the official Media Launch at Old Trafford next Tuesday (October 7) – giving fans a unique chance to engage with players from the two clubs through Reddit. In addition, 100 members of the Reddit Community will be invited to the Red Café on Grand Final night for “In Real Life” opportunities. Reddit will have a high profile around Old Trafford on the night, with LED advertising, a presence in the match programme and on the big screen. All of this has been powered by Reddit Community Funds. https://www.superleague.co.uk/article/5519/rl-commercial-announce-digital-partnership-with-reddit Edited October 1, 2025 by Damien 10 1

The Hallucinating Goose Posted October 2, 2025 Posted October 2, 2025 Not the biggest name in social media but always good to get a new partner on board. 1
Mark S Posted October 2, 2025 Posted October 2, 2025 It’s never going to work, a boomer on Facebook just said he hasn’t heard of Reddit. /s 8

Tommygilf Posted October 2, 2025 Posted October 2, 2025 Sounds good. A positive move for the sport and shows how we can engage 1

Its still massive and some lists have it as the 6th or 7th most visited site in the world, either one above or below X depending on the site you use. 7 1

Also, it's only as low as that worldwide because it's predominantly English language. If you take UK visitors only, it's above instagram, ChatGPT, X, eBay, netflix, TikTok etc. 6

This ^ ^ Reddit is a very good platform for Rugby League to get regular content out and conversations flowing. Whether it's video, imagery or general text content. 2

Yeah it's massive and something I never really use. The only time I do is when it shows as a Google search result, which is often and does tend to show its popularity. I personally just don't find it user friendly but perhaps I'm just not used to it (and have little time to start getting lost in other forms of social media ). Edited October 2, 2025 by Damien 2
OriginalMrC Posted October 2, 2025 Posted October 2, 2025 Reddit is a better platform for RL than X. It is moderated well. There's good discussion about RL on there already and its growing all the time. Its a little bewildering when you first use it but its very easy to use once you get the hang of things. 2

Over the last few years Reddit has started to perform extremely well in Google search results unsurprisingy they agreed a partnership last year. 1
JohnM Posted October 2, 2025 Posted October 2, 2025 Sounds like a great move. Not just the name, but the activities, too. Well done. 1 Q: When will we know that 14 clubs is working for Super League? A. Before we can answer that, we need to know what the move was meant to achieve. Seemingly, no one knows,
Pulga Posted October 2, 2025 Posted October 2, 2025 I don't want to rain on the parade but I think it's just some moderators from the SL subreddit have asked the admins of Reddit if it's cool to do a partnership and they've said yes. All the content will just be setup by those mods. It would be like the moderators here doing the same thing. 1

I agree, and not that I think it's a negative thing, more that I think they are being odd in the way they are presenting it as some kind of new sponsorship. I made the point earlier that I don't actually know what the press release is saying. If this was just SL trying to push the community and drive engagement, great, that's a positive thing. But billing it as a partnership and talking about reddit having presence in GF assets, does liken it more to a traditional 'sponsorship' partnership. It's all good - apart from the press release tbh. I would say, as much as I use reddit, I've never used it for RL really, so it's done its job on that front. 3
