Lost track of the penalty count, but 5 kickable ones plus all the others - hard to overcome a handicap like that. How hard did we work to score our points and how easily did we gift them theirs?

It was a long drive home!!

It’s a shame that we produced our worst display for a long time for such an important game.

You can only play as well as the opposition let you, Toulouse in the the middle of the field shut us down, our discipline all season has been a bit questionable, today we were punished for it. You cannot give top teams that luxury. Toulouse were smarter in that respect.

Credit to Toulouse for the win. Their defence was brilliant. Every game this season we’ve made yards from Matafa, Bishop and Galeano but somehow they managed to stop it. Lots of mistakes and penalties. Frustrating at times with the calls from the referee and Toulouse playing for penalties.

If I was told we’d win the cup, finish top and lose the final at the beginning of the season I’d have taken it.

Time to rest up and enjoy the rumours and hopefully some good news for the club when they announce the 14 teams 🤞

That's about right Darwin, especially the bit about playing for penalties. How many times did one of their guys look practically unconcious after a tackle yet be running about like a good 'un minutes later. Not one went off for a H.I.A., not one went off for treatment. Having said all that, I thought we found out we'd reached our "mid season blip" most teams seem to get, even though it happened in our last game of the season. H. K. R. Had theirs a few weeks ago as did Wigan. We just didn't seem like the team we've been watching for most of the season. Yet having said that, was it that or did the full time fitness levels of Toulouse find the part timers out! Whatever the answer many thanks lads for one of the most enjoyable seasons I've had in watching my team, York, for over 70 years!!

Looking at the provisional IMG performance chart we are 16th behind London, Bradford and Toulouse. We really needed the 0.25 points from winning on Sunday, I just hope it doesn’t stop us going into SL

Who would have thought that promotion could be decided by the result of a game of Rugby League? You never know the idea might catch on.

My own thought is that by some means or another, the desired new SL clubs will get the gig, as planned months ago - regardless of the new 12/13/14th placings. Whether we were/are in that chosen group will be revealed to the masses soon enough.

My thoughts are Toulouse are a must otherwise what is the point of them playing and they’re probably 12th on img. Hethrington and the Australians haven’t gone to London to stay in the championship and super league chairman will want the travelling bulls fans so we will miss out. If only decisions were made on the pitch

Thing is, you could swap Toulouse, York, London, Bradford, Oldham, Featherstone, Halifax, Widnes with Castleford, Huddersfield, Salford, and you'd still have the same outcome.

I think you are probably right, and you know it will end in tears for at least one of those three. Just see how much travelling support the Bulls have when they are getting beaten week in week out.

i only hope the Championship is as good as last season, like I have said previously I don't think it will, and I think we may lose at least one club in the next twelve months.

Sorry for my negativity, but given what has happened over the last twelve months I see no reason but to fear the worst.

I know we are going full time next season regardless if we are in super league or the championship, but how are the finances going to fund a full time team in the championship especially if one player we have signed is on reportedly £200K for next season.

Posted

I don't get how we can afford full time. We got maybe 5,000 for a grand final. 5,000@£22 = £110,000.

13 home games at grand final crowds (pretty unlikely, impossible in the championship) comes to £1.43m. If one guy (whoever that may be) gets 200k of that, it don't stack up.

Any economists care to help me out?

Aye, we're not funding a full time squad with fag packet ticket income equations.

Not all a clubs income is from gate receipts.

Vaughan signing was rumoured and confirmed well before the 28th July super League announcement. It's all in a planned progression to SL.

We were probably targeting the 2027 expansion for SL. 2026 was always transitioning into full time rugby budgeted and accounted for.

Clint's only helped us make progress don't panic like other teams have potentially hiring LED boards that don't fit criteria in a rush to keep pace.

Indeed - Clint's worked wonders on the commercial side, and we're attracting serious sponsorship.

One interesting example is that the leading donor/sponsor for the Valkyrie alone hands over £45K a season !

Bronco's just signed Siliva Havili from South Sydney and Reagan Campbell-Gillard of course. They haven't come to play against Dewsbury.

Really like this post.

One question - what do Huddersfield bring to the SL table? And how certain are we - regardless of the impact on the Knights - that they are secure in there?

Heard like many Toulouse and Bradford are up - then it’s a face off between us, London and all the others who have applied - including Huddersfield.

Somehow Cas are a grade A club… laughable in my opinion.

I think we miss out to London. The irony of them being booted out before a game was played in 2024.

Which reliable source did you hear from and if they know 2 of the clubs why don’t they know the 3rd. It’s all hear say and opinions not fact

Does anyone know what the IMG "scores" are at the end of this season? I have a bad feeling for the Knights about all this.

What have London to bring?  They finished way down the championship table and have never attracted big crowds, even when in SL. Bradford play in a decrepit stadium with a postage stamp pitch which I suspect many SL teams will not like playing on.

Sorry to be so negative about this but if we do not get promoted I don't think we will be financially viable to support a full time team and the apparently expensive signings already made.
