If he hadn't have done this, he'd have been playing.

Indeed.. but I'm not the one saying he shouldn't be banned for this tackle because that's how it all works and it isn't the one incident that is "that's not worth a ban". No, on it's own, it isn't but cumulatively it is.. therefore anyone saying "that doesn't deserve a ban from the grand final" is missing the whole point of how the system is.

I have agency. You don't have to agree with me, but you don't get to re-write my words. Crack on criticising them, that's cool.

I've always been the view that punishment should be proportionate. I don't think this is. Let's not pretend that descretion doesn't exit, and doesn't ever get applied, because it does. Lam didn't miss last week's semi-final fr example.

From a Hull KR perspective as WN83 says we probably have a stronger 17 without him so I don't have a dog in the fight for that reason, it's not like he'll be banned from the dressing room or the sideline so his winning attitude will still be present. I just think as a long-term servant of the game he deserves better.

Lam didn’t get any special treatment. That type of allegation is always held later as evidenced by previous similar cases. It was also explained in a statement the RFL issued last week

I disagree. Foul play and him failing his HIA saw him miss the rest of the game, having a direct impact on Saints and the player. Indeed if Saints had got to the final he'd have been forced to miss it.

It collected Bennison high, but calling it foul play is a bit off the mark IMO. He didn't line him up into the head. It was unfortunate that Bennison failed his assessment, but these things happen.

Yes, there was a demand for change, but I think there's merit in reviewing and refining the system. Currently it feels like the system crosses the line between having extra punishment for a poor previous record, and double jeopardy on time served for the same offence.

I'd rather see it simplified a bit, call out red card offences and give an instant 2+ game ban. And use the cumulative points for the lesser offences. But with amnesties at certain points in the season, like in football, you get 1 match ban for 5 bookings in the first 10 games or so, but after that, you need to get 10 bookings by a certain time and get a 2 match ban.

I dont like the current system one bit.

I thought the old system of judging offences on their merits was fine, but it seemed to get trashed because of perceived bias and injustices.

I thought the system we had around 4 or 5 years ago was absolutely fine.

By ad large I don't think kids take up the game just to be dirty.

Some big boppers just want to hit something and let off steam, hehe!

Well, the clubs demanded changes to the system, this is what we got.

I really dont understand what was wrong with reviewing each incident individually and punishing based on severity, with higher punishments for repeat offenders.

This incident is undeserving of a ban for such a big game, but clubs demanded change, this is what they got.

I share this sentiment.

I really like those suggestions, especially the time periods throughout the season.

A red card should incur a ban. If it's a send-off, it deserves an immediate ban.

Maybe we could learn from the punishment for being caught breaking the speed limit.  Avoid disciplinary points by going on player re-education course. 😊

What is the stopping distance of Jai Field at 20mph if hit with a swinging arm?

There is something in union that you can reduce your ban by going on a tackling course ... Amazing how many re offend... So exactly like the speed awareness

Is this a wind up 🤣 ........ If its not, then I have seen no evidence that players actually improve their game by going on such courses

Did you not see this get announced with the new scoring and sentencing guidelines this past off season?

I didn't even bother highlighting him, gaz hock had enough to make my point with on Field discipline before you get to his obvious failings as a human being.

Nope honestly they have "tackling school"... 6 matches or 3 with tackling school, that type of thing.. I'd assume you can only do it once in a set period

It is a bit harsh to accumulate points by going further in Cup and playing a semi final?

Dont do the crime if you don't want the time.

It’s not a wind up. It genuinely exists in RU and is basically used to ensure high profile players don’t miss key internationals.

Under the agreed rules governing accumulated points he has been given due punishment. Appeal will be dismissed.

Very senior moment.  Should have posted separately instead of on 'Quote'

No worries just didn't want you to think they had actually brought it into league as someone had mentioned in jest.. it wouldn't surprise me if they did though!
