Magicman Posted October 10, 2025 Posted October 10, 2025 I must admit with my attempts to get gledhill sent to strangeways and big nige to alcatraz I have lost track with whats happening at the shay , I know davy has now sold his shares at the Huddersfield town stadium but will still play there next year , I've seen gavin butler (bubba) spend most waking hours sending multiple freedom of information acts to the calderdale council with them constantly replying 'its a secret" as anyone heard anything or can remember when the sale of the shay is supposed to happen.
Ainley Top Posted October 10, 2025 Posted October 10, 2025 I've said all along that Ken Davy is using The Shay and calderfail council as leverage to help his case against Kirklees. I don't see the giants playing at The Shay and don't think they should either. The Shay belongs to the people of Halifax and, with a decent council, would be a fantastic asset to the town and not a burden as it has been portrayed by the useless councillors. It should never be sold to a private investor. 1
Faxpanthers2025 Posted October 10, 2025 Posted October 10, 2025 3rd November seems to be the big day in terms of the sale of the shay. https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/sport/football/shay-stadium-halifax-date-set-for-decision-over-controversial-sale-of-yorkshire-sports-stadium-5307642# don’t think Giants have made much progress on a site for a new ground so all a bit unclear what’s happening there 1

Isn't the latest a legal challenge as to if the whole process has been undertaken correctly. No idea what Davy's real intentions are but if they are honourable and he gets p!ssed off and it gets sold to a shyster, maybe that would be a massive own goal. 1

I suspect that the taxpayers of Calderdale would be more than happy to have this financial burden removed from their shoulders, just as the Kirklees taxpayers are happy to have the stadium at Huddersfield removed from theirs. Not everyone in these respective boroughs are supporters of the sports clubs. Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.

Sports clubs are a focus point and should be a symbol of pride in your town. I've no interest in roadside lettuce gardens down Tod or 3 foot long cycle lanes at King Cross but they are there despite hardly anyone using them. The Shay should be a beacon of light heading up a healthy vibrant Halifax. 1

Boots Posted October 21, 2025 Posted October 21, 2025 Since the objections raised it’s in the hands of an auditor from October 1st to determine the outcome. https://hellorayo.co.uk/greatest-hits/west-yorkshire/news/shay-stadium-audit
The Blues Ox Posted October 22, 2025 Posted October 22, 2025 For Halifax Town fans, it's the hope that kills.

Quote: “Shay Stadium sale to Huddersfield Giants owner Ken Davy will be implemented, Calderdale Council's cabinet confirms. Halifax’s major sports ground, The Shay Stadium, can be sold to Huddersfield Giants rugby league club owner Ken Davy, senior councillors have confirmed. The Shay is home to the town’s professional sports clubs, football’s FC HalifaxTown and rugby league’s Halifax Panthers. A legal restriction to ensure it is kept as a sporting stadium will be included, Calderdale Council’s Cabinet members say. Cabinet had been expected to consider the issue again when it meets on November 3, following a period of time in which community groups were given the chance to express interest in taking on the site, previously registered as an Asset of Community Value.” End.
