Congrats to KR, fifth ever SL Champions.

It’s been such a long time coming. Great for the game.

Really happy for Willie Peters too.

I tell you what, if someone said that KR would be the 5th only a few short years ago I wouldn't have believed them.

It's good to see.

An amazing turnaround. Willie Peters is overwhelmingly responsible for their success. Good on him.

I disagree. This all started with Craig Sandercock. He was the lynchpin

Yes I think that it’s definitely good for the game, as a KR fan it’s fantastic

as a RL fan I’d love a sport where anyone of the 12/14 clubs could genuinely be title contenders at the start of the season

We certainly need more competitive games throughout the season where you can’t mark a win or loss on the coupon without a long hard think about it

And this is why no club should ever be shut out of the top flight.

They spent one season in the championship and maybe ironically they were spared relegation in 2020.

Hull KR are s great example of a club that has made good choices and put in a long term plan. They're not a poster club for lower league teams that have risen up to success through promotion.

Success through promotion? No, success through multiple promotions (and relegations).

Well done to Hull KR !

Great to see a new team take out the premiership 😊

Well maybe there's a case for Bradford Bulls 🤣🤣🤣🤣

congratulations HKR....a club that have done the hard yards and are fully deserving of their success....it was about a decade ago that Hudgell said they needed to get to 10,000+ average gates and THEN success would come and here they are now with 11,000 and 3 bits of silver to celebrate. Fantastic!👏👏👏

Hmmm quite possibly.  But it could also be argued that the interrupted 2020 season due to Covid was a blessing in disguise for KR.

They started the season badly and IIRC were bottom of the league before the enforced break.  When the competition resumed relegation was suspended therefore Tony Smith used the remainder of that season to experiment with younger/fringe players and new systems that got a lot of adverse comments on this site.

If P&R had been in place that year and there had been no Covid it is possible that KR might have been relegated and this great turnaround would never have occured.

Useless bit of trivial but in their Championship season TO completed the double over them iirc.

It’s not long ago that some on this forum were saying there should be a 10 team SL and KR shouldn’t be in it.

As has also been said: thankfully, they were spared relegation when ending the season bottom of the table.

They started the SL era in the third tier, alongside Carlisle, Chorley, Prescot and Bramley (and Leigh 🙂 ). They were outside SL from 1996 to 2006.

The first new club to win SL since 2004 is quite the stat.

This got me thinking, will it be easier for other clubs to win it now? KR have proven it’s not impossible. Will teams who’ve never won SL go into a Grand Final with less pressure to win?

I dont think it makes much difference really. If a club was good enough they've always had the chance.

Cas went in as strong favourite having won the league leadership trophy. But they failed in the final ,Leeds beating them easily.

Cats had never won the league championship before though whereas Leeds has plenty of experience winning grand finals.

Hull FC, Cas and Salford have never been back to Old Trafford and Warrington and Catalans have had more than one opportunity to win it.

The big question is can KR keep this up? Can they defend their title next year?
