Looking on the “heat map” of the seats, looks like most of us are clumped in the same area.

Great for atmosphere, less great for bringing one off attendees if you then get shifted to another part of the stand.

I really hope this allocated seat decision doesn’t end up leading to a decline in attendances. Personally I’m less inclined to invite anyone if it means I end up in a different block.

The club has sold considerably more at this stage than it did the previous year.

And for those worrying about not being able to bring people along, the stand holds 2500 - you’ll be fine.

I think our recruitment strategy will be very different from the previous two seasons.

In 2024 we had simply to recruit a team to get promoted. Last season we had to recruit one to get established in the Championship.

Succeeded spectacularly on both occasions.

Last season was strange in some ways, though. We made great play of getting the squad in place and starting training early. The main priorities were to get points on the board early, see off relegation and then have a go at the 1895. Did well there, but then got badly hit by injuries and suspension in the same position.

Then came the Super League thing and the emphasis changed again. We ended up changing tack and, although fourth place was a great result, it was probably a slight over achievement. Certainly games in the second half of the season showed some tiredness and lack of cohesion as players came and went.

There might well be no promotion and no relegation this coming season. What would be the point of loading up on a bigger, expensive squad at this point, when the only real business will be a play off sequence nearly twelve months off? I think this time we will gear our season towards the back end rather than front loading.

There is also the question of the coach, whose agreement comes to an end at the conclusion of the 2026 season . He has been very good, but will both parties wish to renew? If the club didn't, would it wish to saddle  a new man with Sean's picks on longer contracts.

All very intriguing.

Does anyone know what funding clubs got last year?

At one time the RFL used to fanfare the payments that clubs received, including for progress through the CC. Nowadays there is an echoing silence.

I believe Oldham got a minimum payment as they had just been promoted. I read it in an article last year but can’t recall where.

Excellent episode of The Boundary Line this week with options for designated season ticket holders wanting to bring friends. 

They might not get everything right but they do listen and are trying to help in order to boost attendances. 

Hopefully the signings will get a few more interested in attending.

Funding depends on IMG score, not finishing position.

It looks likely seen a couple of club posts on this , but not confirmed , so London fixture list for example , looks easier due to their finishing position last year …. Not sure who becomes their 2 local fixtures ? Since they already get Midlands in their 10 based on finish … could be pot luck … but can’t send them to Cumbria or Newcastle

Some tough games there. London as the only full-time team, will be firm favourites. Doncaster and Sheffield have recruited very well. Widnes will be strong and Barrow and Fax are never pushovers. On a positive note, it would be great to have local derbies against Rochdale, Swinton and Salford.

With the fixture format & dependent on recruitment (others are recruiting really well - Doncaster & Sheffield in particular), London should easily finish top, there will be a few lower Championship teams from last season at the upper end of the play off positions, Salford will struggle (if they survive) as they will be ranked No. 1 & play all the Championship teams & Oldham & Halifax could be in the lower play off positions also having to play nearly all Championship teams. The local derby fixtures (should be Rochdale & Swinton) will be crucial to us.

I quite like the fixtures it gives us, but don't understand how it produces a representative league table.

It definitely doesn't, hence the need for a 10 team play-off (practically half the division) to sort the wheat from the chaff.

It doesn't. No wonder Midlands are recruiting like they are. Every chance they will make the play offs, considering who they will play. This is basically fudging 2 leagues into 1.

The league leaders shield , prize money for winning the league  , img points for league winners , home advantage for position 1 & 2 , seems unfair for whoever it is

Yes it’s a fudge and an attempt to avoid the lower teams being demolished weekly.  However it does throw up curiosities for sure!
