Final score - Cumbria 70 v Nigeria 6.

Attendance 1,475.

Cumbria won comfortably without really getting out if 2nd gear.

Hopefully Cumbia will be given another representative game next season; ideally and not disrespectfully to Nigeria against stronger opposition.

I say this every time. Make Cumbria v England XIII an annual fixture. You’d get a crowd and it would be a fun and challenging game for both teams.

This is just the first step for Nigerian Rugby League, as they are new to our game, and we must encourage them at every stage.

There are many talented Nigerian youths who would make very good Rugby League players, and in Africa as a whole, and living in the UK. We just need to nurture them, through these early days on the Rugby League international front.

It's a good idea but doesn't have to be annual - the novelty would soon go. Cumbria should certainly play a fixture every year though.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

As I stated in my earlier post, I was not being disrespectful to Nigeria. I fully appreciate the journey that Nigerian rugby league is embarking on.

At the same time, it was evident within five minutes of kick off what the probable outcome of the game was going to be. Cumbria didn't really get out of second gear and with a bit more composure would have been scoring at over a point a minute.

Perhaps Nigeria would have been better served playing a representative game against an English Amateur XIII?

As for Cumbria, the coaches and players go into a game feeling there is a necessity to win, as the perception seems to be that if Cumbria lose, it gives the RFL the opportunity to ensure Cumbria don't get further fixtures.
