so - the pacific cup final took place this morning - full blooded international in front of nearly 30,000 fans YET! both the BBC sports website and their text service say there are no fixtures to display today !

last week at Everton they didnt bother telling us who the subs were when showing the teams

the breakfast report claimed Mal Meninga was the kangaroos coach last week and didnt even mention the game yesterday

the lack of a camera angle for the Addo  Carr incident was embarrassing with poor camera work throughout

minimal promotion of the test series or the presence of the touring side here

I for one am sick of the BBC treating our sport with contempt but will it ever change?

A majority of the BBC sports staff are union fans, and their bias shines through many times.

Evening kick-offs on Sky Sports would offer better atmospheres, and perhaps a slightly better chance of England winning.

If Sky were in any way interested, I'd favour going back to them.

@graveyard johnny I'll be Devil's advocate and ask why you would expect any better for a small, poor, regional sport which generally lives down to the negative views which many outsiders have of it?  I suggest that's where the problem lies.

The rugby league results page on Sky Sports right now does not feature the Pacific Championship.

Yeah, let’s bin off live terrestrial coverage of England games on BBC1 and go behind a subscription service for the converted. Do it Now!

Yes, I know. It's just filler to Sky. The BBC don't have them either, as far as I know.

But they do show all NRL fixtures, line ups and results. Maybe they are unaware of the Pacific Cup?

The lack of radio commentary has been odd for the the series, or rather, only the second test on Radio Merseyside. They've got plenty of streams on Sports Extra, but nothing for these games.

Don’t both Sky and BBC take their fixture feeds from the Press Association?

Somewhat annoying that FlashScores listed both of yesterday’s matches as Friendly Internationals rather than Test Match and World Cup Qualifier, but at least they showed the scores.

Did they show the scorers?

I don't know how this information is sourced, but I assume sports governing bodies feed them into a system that these news sources collect from?

Scorers and line ups, yes. Flash Scores, Live Score and the like are updated by data companies who are essentially the bookies by another name.

Flashscore are part of a betting company, so it is in their interest to be accurate.

So for certain matches (French club games etc.) where they can't be certain of live details they have "FRO" aka Final result only, or they say they'll put up the details later when they can check it (i.e. today's women's Pacific Cup final).

Wow, 30,000 fans for Samoa Vs NZ the other side of the world ..

And the BBC don't have anything about it on their feeds?!

Disgraceful.

It's amazing sometimes what some fans expect from the BBC when in reality we are just a minority sport.

Probably waving their fists at the telly demanding more six-agains.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

Given the regional profile of the Sport, I think we did pretty well to have all three games on BBC1.

Some of the SL games earlier in theyear were either on the red button or hidden away on BBC3

I would sum it up as this, we want the BBC to cover our sport, but when it comes to many of the other sports they cover, the BBC wants to provide coverage, many of the issues stem from that.

The BBC have a report on both the men’s and women’s finals on their website.

On the main page too, not just the RL section.

Sky Sports, meanwhile, do not.

That demonstrates just how limited SL's reach really is.

I thought the coverage of the internationals was fine, 3 games on bbc1 and mentions on the breakfast news that I saw.

The bigger concern is the scattergun approach to showing Superleague games. Some games on bbc 2, some hidden away on the red button, at different times.no consistency.

I assume the rights were sold quite cheap but their is a real chance being missed here for both the sport and the bbc building increased viewership if they could get the game on a fixed time slot and channel so more people were aware to tune in

The BBC do that with all their sports.

Not something I’m a huge fan of but “stick it on the iPlayer” happens to all of them to varying degrees.
