Apart from Nigel Wood saying it's a great deal and 9 SL chairmen voting for it, it was all Lewis's fault? The CEO bears no responsibility? If he doesn't, what was he doing as CEO?

Yes, despite the cubs agreeing it, and Tanker lauding it, it was Dickie Lewis' fault. Most definitely.

Lewis was literally phoning club bosses begging them to vote for it. It's not the "fault" of anyone in particular but it is common knowledge that this was a Lewis project.

You're right. We definitely can't blame the people who voted for it or the executives who delivered it.

I do find it easy to believe that Lewis pushed for a move away from gambling companies, but lets be honest, your Chairman isnt going round sorting individual sponsorship deals out, so while he may have influenced it and got it over the line, it wasnt a Lewis initiative and everyone else absolved.

I do find it interesting when you go back and look the announcements around the deal, Wood was Championing it when we announced the sponsorship. The good news if you like. When the deal was being abandoned, James Mercer (commercial guy) was rolled out to explain it and all articles referred to Lewis. A bit of a PR masterclass really.

It's interesting reading of the various fan suggestions but I think that we can have full confidence in the RFLs water-tight recruitment process and judgement to recruit the right person.

The recommendation for an "independent board" sounds great if you take it at face value.

However the devil will be in the detail as the clubs seem unlikely to be willing to give up their power, and I also have concerns its just doing what the NRL want to get their investment for the clubs.

Who pays the piper pays the tune, so IT MIGHT be a case of if the Super League chairman/owners want money from the NRL they might have to give up some of their power. Just Saying
