Benidorm bash cancelled

Not surprising if you know anything about the organiser behind the event. How he has not been blacklisted entirely from our sport yet, is a mystery to me.

So nothing was agreed, no contracts signed, no details were available on where the game was, hotels, training, game not sanctioned by the RFL....why on earth did they announce anything?

But yes, you are right. More due diligence should have been done by Oldham. I guess a lot was done in good faith and the fact Cas had already been there last year probably gave them confidence to get on board.

Well, Benidorm Bash organisers say that the sports company called Kadima was responsible for the whole event:

Yet it appears that company was dissolved in 2024:

Maybe the UK limited company was wound up, but nothing to stop the name being used elsewhere?

I'm still waiting on the postponed season opener of Valencia Huracanes vs Bristol Sonics in the Franchise Rugby competition.

I presume the worldwide drafts happened under the radar because I still haven't seen any news about them.

Ahh EuroXIII - I’ve got many a tale about those days. My favourite is being told the trial at Birmingham may be fully booked with imports so I may need to trial overseas to get drafted by the club I was already signed and registered to!

At this point, unless he's using an alias and a false moustache, it's very much a 'you' problem.

I don't think we should necessarily expect the guys who run Heysham Atoms or Kippax Welfare to be reading the TRL forum closely enough to know about this confidence trickster. Maybe we should expect a bit more of a Super League club.

As we all agree, this bloke has enough of a track record that the RFL should be stepping in and putting him on a proscribed list (and making sure all clubs know about it).

As we all agree, this bloke has enough of a track record that the RFL should be stepping in and putting him on a prescribed list (and making sure all clubs know about it).

Yes and I hope they cut their losses now, before they get burnt even worse.  If they lie about €2,500 prizemoney for friendly amateur match, imagine how many other false promises have been made, and how many surprises he has up his sleeve for when they arrive?  Free accommodation, free airport and matchday transfers... Upon arrival:  "oh yeah, about that, there's been a bit of a problem... that'll be 100 quid per person".

Simple searches around the individuals / companies involved would have prevented this. Oldham went down a similar road earlier on in the year with regards to a dance event. A little bit of due diligence goes a long way. I just hope supporters can get their money back. However, it seems unlikely.

Benidorm Bash Update

it is our intention to proceed with all other elements of the Benidorm Bash, including the 9s tournament, the Legends Dinner, music, DJs, and the wider programme.

We understand supporters’ concerns and as already stated all ticket holders will be contacted by our team on Monday 8th to discuss all available options.

FInally, we will not be responding to or rebutting any statements from Oldham RLFC or any other party, as the matter has been handed over to our legal representatives.

It's a common tactic of his to make vague legal threats and then go into hiding.  Sadly, Oldham seem to have fallen for his bluff (yet again) and removed all comments on their FB video post where they first announced the cancellation.

Edit:  actually, the comments have been restored, but it doesn't seem to be allowing any new comments.
