What concerts have we got scheduled in for next year?

So far I'm off to see UB40 with the misses in June and The Streets in July with my brother both in Manchester.

There will be plenty more no doubt but happy to have that booked in so far!

seen Suede a couple of times in the late 90s and enjoyed- saw the Mondays when they first started out and it was the worst rabble  I  have ever seen assembled to pass as a GIG

In the early days The Mondays were off their nut most of the time. Theyve always been great when I've seen them. Suede are great live, looking forward to that one

I'd go on the Saturday just for The Zipheads if I were in the area. Outstanding live band, seen them several times.

Love the Mondays seen them a few times.

Really want to see Prodigy but not sure the misses would like it

I have just found and enjoyed a bit of An Banna on YouTube.  Which of the four are you?

My next public performance is a little bit different from yours.  I will be one of two tenor 2 singers in the Salisbury Cathedral Chamber Choir, singing the Eucharist service for Ash Wednesday (Feb 18) in the cathedral at 5.30 pm.  Being Ash Wednesday, we will sing psalm 51, Miserere mei ("Have mercy on me") and in the well known setting by Gregorio Allegri, but much edited over the centuries so now not too much as he would have heard it!  A brave sop soloist has to hit top C about five times!  Here's a link to a good version for anybody who might just be interested:

Saw Sepultura in Hull a couple of years back.

I thought they were superb but if Brazilian metal's not your thing you could be in for a long, deafening night.

First gig of the year was a couple of weeks ago, John Bramwell from I Am Kloot in the Unitarian Church in Shrewsbury. A great venue for music, one of my favourite places I've ever played. A really enjoyable gig, even if I wasn't that familiar with him beforehand.

Got Mogwai in Birmingham this Saturday, somehow I've never seen them before.

In March, I've got Ashley Campbell (daughter of Glen) at St Mary's Church in Shrewsbury then the Manics at the Albert Hall, which I think is my 35th Manics show. 

June is Skunk Anansie and Garbage at Delamere Forest. July Super Furry Animals in Llangollen. August Hollywood Vampires in Birmingham. Debating a trip to a European festival to scratch my Manics itch, though they'll no doubt have something going on in the UK for the 30th anniversary of Everything Must Go.

 

In terms of gigs I'm playing, Loopfest in Shrewsbury is one that I'd like to recommend if you fancy a May Bank Holiday trip to Shropshire. Ash and Reef headlining the Friday night, about 300 acts playing across the weekend. As well as playing, I'm in charge of sorting equipment for the smaller venues, which is a fun way to spend a weekend!

Went to Newcastle Arena to see Florence and the Machine on Wednesday. My granddaughter got the tickets before telling me that one was for me and I was to drive and buy the three of them drinks!

Cost me quite a sum but both the venue and the band were great. I wasn't familiar with most of the songs ... I've only got the first two albums  ,,, but the show was very slick and that woman can't half sing. lt wouldn't be Florence if the show didn't have some pretensions ... huge multiscreen with effects (stunning),  harpist (good) and four female dancers overacting as witches (irritating)  ... but it was as much an experience as a concert.

The venue is fantastic. Huge carpark next to it. Inside, at least half the audience ignored the seating and stood around the stage. No heavy-handed security deployed.

I can also confirm that the speed cameras on the M62 between Batley and Bradford are fully functional.

I went to Ed Sheeran last night after being dragged along. I don’t really know many of his songs. He’s quite the performer but with 34 songs and lots of anecdotes etc from him between songs it was a very long concert.

Vance Joy played before him and he was really good.
