shandy Posted January 17 Posted January 17 How true this is I don’t know, but I’ve just been told that Latics have kicked us out of BP. I hope it’s rumours but the guy who told me is on the ground staff 1
shrewsbury roughyed Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Rumours on the Latics’ message board that Roughyeds fans have said we’re playing at Stalybridhe. A fallout with the Boundary Park owners possibly about changing the colours of the seats. Surely not! Surely someone’s making this rubbish up!
shandy Posted January 17 Author Posted January 17 Apparently it’s to do with the Roughyeds not paying towards the up keep of the pitch and the kiosks on game day
shrewsbury roughyed Posted January 17 Posted January 17 I’m sure they’ll sort something out. Losing BP as our home venue would be a massive step backwards. One significant reason for a lot of our recent signings has been ‘an ambitious club going places,’ of which (no disrespect) Stalybridge does not fit the bill. I just can’t see that happening under our current leadership. 1
RougeRob Posted January 17 Posted January 17 It's now been posted on the Latics forum that the issue has been posted on here about the issue that was posted over there. So it must be true. 2
Enk27 Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Hopefully just rumours but would (sadly) explain why no merch in the Boundary Park shop any more and why the challenge cup tickets are not on sale yet. Hoping just people making mischief because honestly not sure I’d be up for following the team to Stalybridge. On a Friday night would be pretty much impossible to get there. 1

I was wondering the same thing. OK the squad looks great and last night's performance promising, but the club seems to have stumbled quietly into the new season. There's no late rallying call to snap up season tickets, the club website seems to be lacking attention and where's BQ? Someone else mentioned about the Orrell cup-tie tickets. So like really, where are they? It's all feeling a bit Hamiltonesque. 1

To be fair on the season ticket front, initially they were set up for 13 games so feels like they were quietly dropped to be replaced by the “pay for 7 games you pick” promo. The pop up shop was great. But yeah this years pre-season has just felt a little haphazard compared to last year. Hoping whatever teething problems exist are able to be ironed out soon.
Glossop Roughyed Posted January 17 Posted January 17 This feels like a rumour for provocation & baiting : facts ; matches for sportsman & bbc IPlayer have to be selected , bbc just yesterday , sportsman go for early kick offs : and match selected not been announced at this stage : club would need facts before they can sell tickets. Then you’ve got the £5 million pounds for Sports Town based on the rugby , netball & football : then the £1 million for the pitch work already done based on Oldham RLFC playing at Boundary park & the 10 year deal 3
tub Posted January 17 Posted January 17 (edited) I expect it to get sorted but I'm no lover of BP .... it's too big for us and has little atmposphere. .... same reason Huddersfield leaving their ground. I know our own ground is probably fantasy but I wouldn't have dreamed we'd be were we are now three years ago ! ...... I'm still dreaming Edited January 17 by tub 1
Curlywurly2 Posted January 17 Posted January 17 I'll ask my mate who works at BP if he's heard anything
wroteforluck87 Posted January 18 Posted January 18 There was in a message in the YSG Whatsapp that said it's only hour challenge cup game that will be at Bower Fold due to poor attendance of the game last year against Mayfield. As a latics fans who has embraced the yeds I've noticed that some latics fans have a real dislike for the yeds I very it very odd. 5

jroyales Posted January 18 Posted January 18 All this "I've heard this or that" isn't helping to sell the club to the public - which isn't happening. Why haven't the club sorted this mess out SOONER!!!!!!! Sadly, if we finish playing at Stalybridge I'll be demanding my SIX season tickets back. Talking to some lads who were thinking about coming they just laughed - sacked the coach at the beginning of the season, no coach to replace him, no ground, mistakes on shirts, no links with community, no promised forums on a regular basis! And to top it all the rumour flying around on Friday was that MF and BQ have fallen out! JUST GET THE DREAM BACK ON TRACK. 2
RougeRob Posted January 18 Posted January 18 The next batch of replica shirts fixes that spelling mistake. The slogan will now say Stronger To Cheshire. 3
herbie Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Gutted if any of this is even partly true. What a waste! Have had concerns for a few weeks. Did hear months ago Mike and Bill had a fall out. No merch in latics shop. Business meetings held at Oldham Library when they used to be at BP. Also Jim McMahon posted a meet of stake holders in the sports town project. We weren't there. I'm really hoping this isn't true
Glossop Roughyed Posted January 18 Posted January 18 A fantastic idea to have a meeting at Oldham Library ,look what’s on display at the Library 3

Roughyed Rats Posted January 18 Posted January 18 I fear there’s something in all this. I’m not a massive fan of BP but it is in Oldham. I like Bower Fold as it’s more like a traditional ground where you can get close to the action and change ends. With regards to the rumours of a falling out between MF and BQ, MF can be easily replaced, BQ can’t. Without him, we go right back to the Hamilton days. 1

As someone who has followed both since I was a kid, I also find it weird how a certain degree of animosity crept in from both sides at some point. What’s even weirder is the amount of people from the town who want them both to crash and burn, which I just find infathomable. It was never like that in my experience up until around the late 90s, prior to that there were a lot more people that attended both, and even those that mainly only attended one, would always keep an eye on how the other were doing, want them to do well, and turn up for the odd big game. I can understand if you’re from outside the area, adopted your team for other reasons, and don’t have any particular affinity to the town, why you might not care so much about the other club. But when Oldhamers do it, I just find it odd. Thankfully I would say it’s becoming less the case again, when I was last over in England during rugby season, I saw quite a few Latics fans at the Yeds game at BP, and saw quite a few Yeds at Wembley back in June. 2

I don’t think the influence and effect of Mike Ford can be overstated. He has huge credibility in rugby and in Oldham. For me we need the pair of them in tandem. Let’s hope this is a storm in a teacup and all will be sorted. 1

Ideally yes but he’s not the one putting the money in. 1
