Chorlton Peter Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Why has there been no information on the Official site or twitter in regard to the Orrell St. James match? It was stated on the Orrell site on the 13th Jan that the game would be at Boundary Park on Sunday 25th January at 3pm and yet Roughyeds have not confirmed this. I am dismayed that Roughyeds seem to be leaving everything till the last minute nowadays and not taking into account that we all have to make plans for travel etc . Personally as a Latics fan as well I also have to plan for their games as well(next weekend they are at Barnet on Saturday which i'm going to) and note any match clashes So when are we going to get information for this and regards to tickets for the London game. If they want bums on seats give us the information early so we can plan for it.
RougeRob Posted January 19 Posted January 19 The rumour on the Boundary Park thread is that the game may take place at Bower Fold because of the anticipated low attendance. This would, from Oldham's point of view, make financial sense whilst at the same time self-inflicting a PR wound. You'd imagine that Orrell would quite fancy playing at BP. The attendance at Bower Fold would be lower than at BP and so that would affect the split gate proceeds from the game, which obviously would affect Orrell. Also, maybe the RFL have to give the nod for the ground change somehow. Surely an announcement from the club is imminent.
RougeRob Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Haha. That was quick! https://roughyeds.co.uk/news/challenge-cup-second-round-details-confirmed/
tandle Posted January 19 Posted January 19 i agree rats latics are away saterday no matches sunday. so how long is boundary park going to be unavailable for it seems a bit strange to say the least.
jroyales Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I won't be going. What's the reason behind this lack of consideration for fans?
Bedford Roughyed Posted January 19 Posted January 19 With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!
Tangle Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I will be there at 80 I want to see as much rugby as I can 7

shrewsbury roughyed Posted January 19 Posted January 19 If it’s purely for financial reasons then it makes sense. No point in playing at BP and making a loss. If it’s for bigger reasons then we might have a problem on our hands.
RougeRob Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Any news from the Why Not bar in Benidorm as to whether they'll be live streaming the game? 2
Oldham Valderama Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I think for clarity the club need to come out with something a bit more substantial and transparent regarding the change of venue especially if there is any truth in all the rumour's that are flying about at the moment. If its just for purely financial reasons and a one-off the change of venue then I can understand to a certain extent, bit of a ball ache having to travel to Bower Fold but if not expecting a large crowd (last year against Mayfield I think it was just over the 1k mark??) then fair enough, no point losing money just try and get the game out of the way and move on. Not ideal and a bit of a pain for fans but if its just this one fixture then there is a certain logic behind the decision although I can understand some fans frustrations. If i remember rightly Rochdale did a similar thing last season?? IF on the other hand all these Chinese whispers flying around at the moment have some substance and there is an issue with us playing this season at Boundary Park then the club need to be upfront about it. Obviously us fans are not privvy to the discussions between Latics and the Roughyeds however fans have already shelled out for season tickets based on us playing at Boundary Park (personally I've gone for a pie and peas option and shelled out £450). If for whatever reason it turns out that we will NOT be playing this season at Boundary Park you are potentially going to alienate a lot of fans and if the uncertainty continues right up close to our first home game on 20th Feb this will only exasperate the situation. I hope all these rumours are untrue and its just a case of the Challenge Cup game being switched and thats it. If not and Oldham RL are indeed to play "out of town" again then for me the optimism of the past two seasons will be gone. From the outside the club is in a fantastic position and has massive potential but will take time to achieve everyone's eventual goal of reaching Super League. If kicked out of Boundary Park and again become nomads then for me (and probably the vast majority of Oldham fans) that dream will die and i dont see any coming back from that. 5

Glossop Roughyed Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Looking forward to match : London Broncos Super League Ready ? Have moved their home challenge cup game to Richmond Athletic Grounds after the fanfare of media for first home match & afc Wimbledon are away as well …very little social media activity at all 1
RougeRob Posted January 22 Posted January 22 I bet the Stalybridge groundsman was thanking the stars that Celtic were away this weekend. It must be getting progressively soggy underfoot. And then the phone call came...
lalar Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Let's hope all the chairs are fastened down in the boardroom at Bower Fold 1
