Featherstone Rovers Women - Super League Games

In the absence of mens rugby League in Featherstone, I assume there's going to be a massive push for the ladies Super League campaign this season?

All their games should be at Post Office Road and heavily promoted

When does the season start? Just checked the RFL website and surprise, surprise there's nothing on there.

Based on last season we'd have 7 home games plus cup games if drawn at home?

This season should be seen as an opportunity to really boost Featherstone Rovers Ladies.

I believe the season starts in April, we've a home CC game against wigan then should be 7 home games in the league, its vital to get behind the ladies this year, its a very tough challenge against not only the top 4 sides but the other 3 teams have experience in SL, to win our homes games supported by a big crowd would be great !

I’m going to be sponsoring one of their games, I generally sponsor one of the men’s team and have done for years, so I thought I’d help the ladies out

Well done to the team today, getting off the mark by beating Barrow 16-10. There are a handful of teams in the women's game who are much stronger than all the rest and realistically today's game was the best chance our ladies had of getting a SL win (there are  only 8 teams in the league) so its great to see them do it.

Given the success of your women's team and how RL-deprived your loyal supporters are I was surprised by how few people seemed to be in the ground.

Not everyone is interested in women's RL, and there's plenty more things which  people would rather do. Lions were at home as well playing Skirlaugh.

This ^ and also, I haven't seen any video footage of the game but I'd be pretty sure the fans that would be there would be in the main stand (they don't open the main terracing or family stand etc for these games) so presumably the video camera would not be pointed at the fans anyway?

It did, panning around the whole ground. I am not critical just mildly surprised.

I think generally the women's game doesn't attract big crowds other than for big games involving the top 2 or 3 teams, and as Fevrover says, Fev fans would have been much more likely to go and watch the likes of Josh Hardcastle & Johnny Davies playing for Lions less than half a mile away.

A second win of the season for the Ladies' team at Leigh today. Really good result after Leigh had beaten Fev 34-8 earlier this year.

I think this was the first game in the Shield, which seems to work a bit like the Championship Shield did a few years ago.

The team finishing last (ie 4th) in the Shield faces the winner of the Championship in a promotion/relegation play-off.

Our women's team is in a reasonable position hopefully as points earned in the regular season are carried forward and we did manage 1 win so had 2 points whereas Barrow didn't win a game at all. 

Each team plays all the others twice in the Shield so we have 5 more games to go. The current standings (including points carried forward) after 1 game so far in the Shield are Huddersfield on 8 points, Leigh and us on 4, Barrow on 0.
