Here we go again with the annual Kalyn Ponga New Zealand and state of origin eligibility circus again.

great player who would obviously be a huge boost for the kiwis but let’s be honest the guys heart just isn’t there in representing New Zealand unlike keano kini and Benji Marshall who were in similar positions.

i think it’s pretty obvious by now that ponga would love to represent New Zealand and play origin for Queensland at the same time and obviously views origin as more important than international RL unfortunately.

It’s a shame such a talented player had never played a Test for the Kangaroos, but with Reece Walsh around, he’s not going to. He’s not likely going to play for Queensland now either.

I imagine he will be cleared to switch to NZ. They will want all the best players at the World Cup.

He’ll be cleared to play for NZ no problem if he wants to as he’s only played for the Australian 7’s or 9’s side.

time is definitely running out for him on the international front as he’s 27/28 and injury prone as well as having to battle keano kini for the kiwis #1 jersey.

theres also the extremely talented and highly rated young kiwi fullback mason barber for the cowboys who has represented the Australian schoolboys.
