Some months back BQ suggested he had the financial backing to build the club a new stadium if playing long term at BP was not an option. 

I wonder where such a stadium should be situated?

Personally I would see if it was possible between Derker and Shaw near where the proposed new metrolink station is earmarked.  Public transport to sporting venues is a massive plus when building up a fan base. 

Thoughts anyone ?

Not having a "go" at anyone but why would Bill (and the rest of the Board want to)? All through the wilderness years it was "we're not playing in Oldham". So what happened when we did? We still struggled to get 2500 fans

I've often thought that Oldham RU could be turned in stadium / sports complex for both codes to use or sticking the sport town project "hypothetically" there is a pitch near The Rifle Range / Chaddy Bowling Club it has subway access from Clayton playing fields and Toby Carvery aswell as being close to motorway

But there's plenty of pitches the council could grant us.. problem is it would be a very expensive job for a new build we might need one of us to win big on the lottery build a stadium and get the council to list at an Asset of Community Value.

Can't build bigger structures there , due to mining.

I think there's a mine shaft under one of the pitches and I think it's green belt area with access down a very small road

I think it was on one of the Boundary Line interviews. Sometime back but he did say it

Yep, I remember that. At the time I was thinking that that was going against what fordy was saying.

Was on one of the boundary lines... Was in relation to wanting assurances for sportstown and if we didn't get them we'd build our own stadium or something alone them lines

Yes that was the council's plan at the time.  I may be mistaken but I'm sure the council was paid to dump all the waste from the M60 motorway construction on that land? I think other waste was also dumped there, hence you see a man made hill on the site? 

I'm sure others have far better and more detailed recollections.

The attendances were always going to take some time to grow. They were slowly headed in the right direction though. Patience and ongoing engagement is what’s needed

All you need is someone with some vision and patience. Sadly those are things missing here
