LOMAX SHOULD OF STAYED A DRAGON

Melbourne Storm acknowledges the legal hearing between Zac Lomax and Parramatta Eels has concluded in the NSW Supreme Court today.

Melbourne Storm Chairman Matt Tripp said the outcome wasn’t what the Club had hoped for but accepted Parramatta’s position and the conclusion of the matter.

“We are disappointed for Zac and for the game of rugby league. Zac is a star player and quality person who will now remain on the sidelines until 2028,” Tripp said.

“We hope to see Zac return to the NRL in the coming years and haven’t ruled out the prospect of Zac playing for the Melbourne Storm in the future.

“The way Zac has handled himself through this elongated process has been incredible and we wish him every success in whatever he decides to do in the coming years.”

Very little sympathy for Zak Lomax. The Key point is this, having canpaigned to leave St George -Illawarra on the grounds that he sawhimseld as a centre rather thanb a winger. He then signed a four year deal at Paramatta and proved Shane Flanagan right by playing for the Eels and NSW on the wing. If during last season he had broken his leg then I am sure he and the players association would have expected Paramatta to honour his contract.

But he believed the Rugby360 hype and against common sense bearing in mind the upcoming RWC in Australia should have indicated to him that the leading Union players would not jump ship. He then breaks his deal with the Eels to supposedly jump ship and play Rugby360. on the proviso that the Eels would retain his Rugby League registration.

Rugby360 collapses and is unllikely to resurface. So he tries to fix himzself up with anotrher club and Eels rightly demand compensation for an Origin player. Difficult to see who can match the Eels demands bearing in mind squads are in place and budgeted for.

A spell in Super League beckons.....

No sympathy for Lomax at all. It may not all be his fault, his agent may have to take a share of the blame, but breaking two contracts in two years is not acceptable behaviour from a professional sportsman.

Tv cameras caught him leaving Rugby Australia offices yesterday.

Why any organisation would take a long term risk with a demonstrated flounce will definitely hurt his employment chances wherever he goes.  He may be getting dodgy advice from managers and/or contract lawyers but the fact it didn’t stop at ‘I agreed X terms with X team so I’m honouring that’ means I have little sympathy for him either.

I imagine they will believe they can now get him on the cheap. He's got time to commit to them for the 27 world cup and then ask to leave long before it happens.
