Calalans and Toulouse to pay for it all!

Don't put anything past what the RFL will do, and I'm 100% serious

I think something like this will be needed to keep Magic going, unless it reverts to a cup round. This year's is a bit of a tap in, with a stadium that's only just held it's first RL game and bringing back the so called rivals round. But I suspect if you were to do the same fixtures at the same ground next year, the sales wouldn't be as strong.

Maybe if it went to Paris, Catalans vs Toulouse could headline it, while whoever is playing at Vegas play a regular fixture that weekend, on the Thursday or Friday night with Vegas being a neutral venue game rather than someone giving up a home fixture.

Should get Paris or wherever to pay for it after all, they get the tourism benefit.

Theres nothing in that interview at all.

Wouldnt hate a magic weekend there, it should travel and a three year cycle of heartlands, UK, Europe would be good.

Too ambitious for the game at the moment though. Dont have the balls for anything like that

I don’t think Paris desperately needs a few thousand Northern English people turning up to get sh1tfaced for a weekend to sustain its tourism industry.

Places do pay, though. So if not Paris - and, agreed, Paris wouldn't work then why not, for example, somewhere with a stadium, a Jet2 airport and some hotel rooms?

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

Or have you taken on the role of fixture planner for the Valencia Huracanes?

"Officials haven't ruled it out" They also haven't ruled out Tehran but it seems unlikely.

Also, should we not sort out the French leg of years Magic before we start planning next year?

I can gullible rugby league clubs a great deal on a tour in a place where there are no actual rugby teams to play.

I actually think Brighton's stadium would work really well but in a 'never going to happen' way and there are much better options.

That's literally all Jones says "never say never". Magic Weekend hasn't been mooted for France, this is a giant nothingburger. Cue multiple pages of discussion on here, and hundreds of enraged notherners on Facebook having read the headline but not the article.

Should be spending our money in are own country, French can have their own league

Yeah that would be better than Paris, somewhere near some beaches preferably, to follow the Catalan Lloret de Mar model.

The best thing about that is you can have some drinks in Lewes then get the train straight to the stadium, avoiding the congestion of Brighton altogether.

Exactly. It’s a decent ground for access like that and you have space around it for wraparound stuff as well.

It could never work for league but as a venue it would be a good one.

You know all the money that stays within the sport - ticketing, corporates etc - would still be staying within the sport, to be distributed to stakeholders in the same way, whether an event was in England or France yeah?

I'm not sure why rugby league needs to worry about whether it's English hoteliers or French hoteliers, or bars, or train companies, etc etc, who make money around the event on top of that. Not really our problem.

The French do have their own leagues, JB.  Coincidentally, so do the English.  Strangely, they both have shares in a combined league; it's called Super League Europe.

Roll on the day when the NRL takes over Super League and pays for all travel costs before then, and only then, giving each club their share - and making each club's share the same as the other ones. (Okay, I admit it; I may be going just a wee bit off topic...)
