BigTime Posted April 26 Posted April 26 We’re lacking discipline so far and not able to dominate them physically. I hadn’t realised quite how many experienced players Doncaster have.
BigTime Posted April 26 Posted April 26 We appear to have declined the 2 at the end of the half and go in 6-10 down. All to play for but we’ll need to show a bit of flair to unpick Doncaster we don’t look like we can batter down the front door.

Deadcowboys1 Posted April 26 Author Posted April 26 Excellent comeback given the injuries & great statement of intent even if the performance wasn't the best.
BigTime Posted April 26 Posted April 26 Yes they dug in and once again when we have come up against a physical side we have been hit by injuries which will have made things more difficult. Sounds like a pretty indifferent performance by us but we found a way to win. Ultimately we are top of the league and Doncaster will feel they can beat us so we’ll have to be good when we take them on in the 1895. To my untrained eye Croft appears to have been carrying a knock for quite a few weeks. With a strong squad I’ve been a bit surprised we haven’t taken him out of the firing line against weaker opposition. 1

I’m not massively convinced by Tchambe but when it counted his height basically helped us to the win today so I suspect he may be a fixture. Because he’s so tall it’s difficult to assess quite how fast he is but he certainly covers the ground but the thing is he tends to get driven into touch because there is more of him for the defender to get hold of. For me I prefer the raw pace of Tindall and he does a lot of work taking early carries but I haven’t quite worked out how good his defence is. I think having a player with real pace is a real problem for the opposition but JD knows best.

He definitely has flashes of magic but not sure he’s an 80 minute player and not sure how he goes against the better teams. On the plus side he made monkeys of Keighley last week and he seems a cheery fella. 1
BigTime Posted April 26 Posted April 26 I notice Doncaster have put the full match up on you tube. Nice stadium, but like us they appear to only need one side of it and not masses of that one side either. Rugby League ehh!

the-bearded-lefty Posted April 26 Posted April 26 I must say I thought Hawkins stunk too. Max, Mathias and Adebiyi didn't look fit either. Reg, Emarly and Meadows our best.

I thought Adebiyi didnt look quite ready and to judge by the lack of mentions on the radio commentary it’s debatable whether Max and Mathias actually played. To my untrained eye we attempted to blast down the middle for most of the game rather than try to get out to the wings. I think Wallis was nominally our Left Wing but my recollection is most of his carries were central. Basically Max, Adebiyi and Bienek in his cameo, didn’t really make the impression they usually do. RCG and Havilli had more joy and Tchambe and Emarly got lots of carries.

Meadows did have a pretty decent run out again. He’s definitely a much improved player and pretty consistent. 1
