Dons missing most of their backs between knocks and player unavailability due to the short notice changes. Shame as this could have been one the divisions best games

That’s actually a really interesting point and something full time clubs don’t really face. At part time level, late fixture and ground changes can genuinely weaken squads. Players have work shifts, family plans and travel arranged around the original details and not everyone can suddenly reshuffle life at short notice. Easy to overlook but it can make a real difference to the quality of a game like this.  FT: Oldham 18-10 Doncaster

A real shame but a very weakened Dons side gave their all. I assume Oldham were similarly disadvantaged?

I was surprised how low down the table Donny were.

Looking at the starting 13 you swapped your centres and a half back compared to the London game. The bench looks like it had 3 out of 4 players from London.

Not saying that you didn’t put out your strongest side (Robinson missing is a blow) but saying it’s “very weakened” sounds very disrespectful to the players who played vs London. Or are the Dons really a “3 man team”?

As for Oldham, same 13 as Barrow but with the disadvantage of having 5 days rest compared to the Dons 12 days.

We also didn’t have utility player Liu (who would have been helpful when you crunched out centre early on) and Geyer who is possibly the best “change of pace” Dummy Half’s I’ve seen who would have been handy in the second half when we struggled to move the ball in patches.

Overall a very good game and post match I was terrified as the Dons fans had convinced us that you’d raided Bentley ARLFC to string a team together. I was glad to see that the bulk of it played London 2 weeks earlier.

Looking forward to the away fixture and sorry that our back room issues led to so few of you being able to make the trip.
