Wigan draw first blood after 4 minutes and lead 6:0.

Far too many errors and penalties conceded from York. To compete with the champions, you need to be squeaky clean and York were a long way off it there. Bit of a hill to climb in the 2nd half to just keep it respectable. At least they know where they'll need to be in order to compete in the League this year now.

More of the same in the second half so far. York are rusty and Wigan look much more potent across the pitch.

Izzy Rowe missed her ninth and final conversion attempt, but that's one of the Wigan women's very few downside today.

Skill levels for York were as bad as anything I have seen from them. You don't win many games not been able to do the basics never mind when you are playing against the best.

A team full of International players and included 3 ex-NRLW players.

I just can’t believe how bad they were.
Having said that I’m not going to write them off in the Super League, they get Tara J Stanley back soon plus Emma Kershaw & Carrie Roberts.

They also have the impressive youngsters Liv Turner who I would play in the halves and Brooke Henderson who has been their best back in the lead up games.

that was a truely horrible performance from york. we were way off where we need to be. looking like a massive backwards step since lindsay left. as bad as ive seen us play since we went FT.

They’re really going to miss Lindsay Anfield. She had a real ability to squeeze every bit of potential out of that squad, however unbalanced it was and however many players she had to play out of position.

If Leon is to make a difference, we probably won’t see it until later in the year.
