This has all the makings of a stealth attack on the Championship by SL/NRL trying to make it a fait accompli without any real discussion. Fans are drawn into arguing/debating possible structures and scenarios instead of simply saying "no".

Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.

I would say it would only benefit clubs with no ambition to get into Super League. In affect it would mean a closed shop because promotion and relegation will go for good. For example if Fev affiliated with say Wakefield and Wakefield were to be relegated then where would that leave Fev without a 'Parent' club. I could see it being beneficial to many of the championship clubs without the ambition to play at the higher level. So therefore I can see it being enforced. There is a positive assumption here that Fev will be back of course.

If this feeder Club idea comes to fruition, what incentive is there for a potential investor to put cash into one of these Clubs? We all hope to see Rovers take the field again in the future, but as a feeder Club it just wouldn't be the same.

It’s hard because I would

love featherstone rovers to come back with there own 24 players come preseason but the reality, the talent pool of players is already very low and getting lower!!  You would probably have to look at reserve players from super league sides to being in(like we did from hull kr last few years and Leeds rhinos over the years which gave us some real talented players who get game time and develop there own game such as harry Newman, Jack broadbent and others )

I would suggest that one week loans should no longer be available as it think that is a joke but maybe 1 month or season long loans with call backs but this would let teams have them players for a longer period instead of having team with 40 + squad number every season

How many fans are going to pay £20 + to watch c@$ or Trinity Rovers? No way iam doing that, what's at the end of it,a waste of time play offs. Each to their own imho.

The problem is, as much as there is an element of pulling up the drawbridge here (you can expect fans of bottom-half SL clubs to be all in favour of moves such as this which weaken the prospects of potential challengers for their place in SL), both this move and the salary cap suggestion come at a time when the Championship is at its weakest point for many, many years and thus very vulnerable and not really in much of a position to oppose these suggestions. I mean, it's not as if we (Fev) can put up much of a fight as we don't even have a club and along with a few others we're seen as poster boys for how over-reaching ambitions have caused financial problems.

To answer the question, for me it would depend on whether or not we retained independence over any "parent" club and control of our identity. I put up quite a few posts on the General forum many months ago pointing out what was happening at York/Newcastle, my concern there was the true nature of the agreement between the clubs hadn't been disclosed, it was clearly advantageous for both but Newcastle literally had nothing to lose so it's not surprising what fans they have welcomed it, but they are absolutely a feeder club in every way and this was never actually announced.

If we ended up with an arrangement similar to our previous DR ones where we had control over who played for us and retained our identity then I could live with that, I know we all hated DR but it was still our club. Personally if we re-emerge as a club I'd be surprised if the new owners would want to sacrifice overall control after putting the necessary large sum in to acquire the club. But all that is still a long way away!
