The first Grand Tour of 2026, the Giro d'Italia got underway this weekend.

The good news for cycling fans is that there is a free to air daily highlights programme on the DMAX TV channel at 7pm.

Vingegaard stamping his class on the race on the last two summit finishes but Felix Gall is really giving him a run for his money so far.

Rest day tomorrow but Vingegaard will no doubt be looking to put a marker down in the TT on Tuesday.

Very pointy looking route today in the mountains. Looks like an ideal opportunity for Vingegaard to take the leader's jersey.

Unsurprisingly Vingegaard made no mistake on the only stage in the Alps this year. Superbly delivered up the mountain by his team and he did what he does with 4.5km to the summit. Made it look easy cheered on by plenty of fellow Danes on the roadside. 

Should be a nice relaxing day in the leader's jersey for him on a pan flat stage today.

He certainly did it in style, winning five stages on the way to overall victory and becoming only the eighth man in cycling history to win all three grand tours.

Bodes well for a epic battle in Le Tour. For once it looks like Vingegaard and Pogacar could both be heading to the race in the best possible shape at the same time.

Outstanding start to the Tour for Vingegaard and his team in the team time trial in Barcelona yesterday. He takes a 12 second lead over Pogacar and the yellow jersey into the first road stage today and has really given his great rival something to think about.

And Pog today! Some find his domination boring but I think it's very impressive. There are a lot of variables over the course of one race(never mind a GT) so to keep getting it right is a marvellous thing. Tbf some pressure from opposition would be good.

Got a really good team around him but the guy is phenomenal , not arrogant , always gives big raps to the doms getting him around the stage and seems just a nice bloke who is pretty special at riding a bike. Has the greatest respect for Jonas and that is reciprocated , pleased I am around to watch them compete.

Agree. We're very fortunate to see two of the sport's greatest ever riders go head to head. They're both very likeable blokes too.

Pogacar in a class of his own again yesterday. His odds for overall victory are now so short he's unbackable. I don't think Vingegaard had a bad day by any normal standards but Pogacar was something else and he's got a fantastic team-mate in del Toro.

Yes, game over before the first week. A disappointment but What a Beast! 'Merckxian' is the highest compliment I can give him.

That he attacked over 40 kms from the finish , on one of the toughest climbs in Tour history.....I was expecting Sepp Kuss to arrive on Jonas wheel and they would reel him in but the pace he set was too much.

There is live free to air coverage of the Tour de France  on S4C on BBC iPlayer.  It's in Welsh, though. Just watching the penultimate stage. 2nd consecutive day with an Alp d'Huez finish.

Q: When will we know that 14 clubs is working for Super League?

A. Before we can answer that, we need to know what the move was meant to achieve. Seemingly, no one knows,

Pretty dramatic day's racing it was too. Sepp Kuss' mistake on the descent cost him any chance of winning the stage but he was lucky it didn't cost him his life. He was very close to the end of the netting that prevented him from plunging into the ravine.

Been really impressed with Remco Evenepoel in the last week of the race. For a bloke who's always been told he can't climb he's been very impressive in the mountains.
