Double header there with London (if in SL) v Leeds or Wigan would be fantastic.

Imagine if we could get to a stage with the first weekend of the year having games in  Vegas, london, Manchester, Barcelona (with Les Catalans) Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Port Moresby, Perth. What a way to start the season

Agree with the double header point, although I'd personally go with (with all due respect to London) two of SL's big hitters. But the article's pretty exciting, I'd happily watch an NRL game over here!

I wonder what data points the NRL are using to determine that there is sufficient appetite in London for a regular season game and which clubs have the appropriate drawing power to be included.

I'm really excited by this but not convinced they've gone for the right ground. Love their ambition but I would look to a 25-40k stadium, preferably in West London.

Rugby fans (of both codes) + Aussies + Kiwis?

c.50k in a 62k stadium would be better.

If it's going to be a double header, it surely must include a newly promoted to SL Broncos in an attempt to kickstart their fanbase? (And maybe not Wigan, whose fans may well have travelled to Las Vegas, Paris and Wembley this season)

Agreed that Spurs seems a bit ambitious for this, but that said it does have a lot going for it and how many 25k to 40k stadiums that are suitable are there?

Brentford could be good (and may well be a long term home for the Broncos) but appears to be too small for the NRL's ambitions. Stamford Bridge is too small for RL, Loftus Road is not a premium venue. Craven cottage seems not suitable.

Presumably part of "Global Round"?

I had settled on Craven Cottage in my mind but, as you say, finding the right fit will be hard. If it is to involve/impact the Broncos, I do feel it needs to be on that side of town.

IF london are back in SL, and its a big IF, it would seem like looking a gift horse in the mouth a bit not to give them that exposure.

From a game point of view, if the NRL were to draw all those eyeballs, first place you would look to monetise them would be the Broncos.

If you started at 1 with the London NRL game, then london v say leeds at 3pm.

Maybe that rumoured Wigan v Wire game in dublin at 5:30pm, Les Cats v Toulouse in Barcelona at 8pm. And your straight in to the over night vegas games. What a kick off to the season that would be!

I'd be interested to see what sort of crowd it would draw. I do think there is a tendency from some British NRL fans to think all British Rugby League fans love it but I don't think that's the case. I'd consider going dependent on the teams but it would be no given. I don't tend to watch many NRL games on the TV. I'll put the odd one on but rarely last the full game because I've just not got that dog in the fight. I'll watch the vast majority of Superleague games but maybe that's because there is always a knock on impact on your own club in some way.

A double header would probably be the way to go, although the weather could be an issue with that, as it was with Double headers in the old Four Nations.

Maybe just a tad more detail required.

I wouldn't watch it on TV but based on the number of neutrals at games these days, and the number that regularly attend in London, its a tough sell to go to such a big ground.

Broncos-Warriors x2 might be a good way of selling this.

Absolutely perfect.

An NRL game is probably a fairly decent draw. Obviously not sell out levels of interest but certainly something that will attract an audience in London.

I was pleasantly really surprised at how many Australians were at the Ashes test at Wembley. Activating that audience is surely an aim of the NRL (and probably to a lesser extent the London Broncos too).

Add in a Wigan or Leeds etc and its a potentially big event being created.

There are no 25-40k stadiums in West London. Brentford far too small at 17k but now they are on the verge of Europe might find their attitude to rugby changes. Loftus Road is 18k but a dump. The pitch drop offs along the sides at the Cottage are much steeper than in 1980 so wingers would need crash helmets to avoid injury. Stamford Bridge has the 40k capacity but if it is a double header, it needs promoting as an event not a couple of rugby games. On that basis, Spurs (Sarries have their big game there 60k+ for their game against Quins this year) or Twickenham. If Quins can promote the Big Bash & get 80k+ at Twickenham i'm sure the NRL could do something similar.

Classic English rugby league to fret about the attendance about a historic first NRL game in the UK.

It’ll sell very well, chaps. Rugby union fans know about the NRL. They will turn up. So will rusted on Northern RL tragics. London and SE leaguies. London and SE general sports fans. Aussies. Kiwis. Saffers.

Fret not.

"They will turn up" hasn't really worked out in the past. Some evidence or data would be helpful to see what a potential audience would be.

Well, the Kangaroos crowd at Wembley was 61k and the Tottenham stadium capacity is 62k. Looks a good choice.

Are the Kangaroos playing England for the Ashes in the NRL game? Come on, be serious.

Imagine the crowd if the Perth Bears played the Gold Coast Titans in London.

I suspect it would have to be 2 teams with a huge fan base… so probably Brisbane v one of the big Sydney teams or possibly the Warriors.
