Some people can throw things like balls of metal or spears further than others. Some can jump higher or further than others, Some can do this jumping and skip and hop  a bit too.

Others can run faster than others around a track , though where the field comes into it I really don't know.

Some people even are entertained by this.

You wouldn't believe some of the things people are entertained by. People running around a field either carrying or kicking a ball, watching other people talk in a thing called a theatre and there is now even a new trend of people watching moving pictures on a box in their lounges.

I think we should be careful about accusing athletes from other nations of doping, especially when we have athletes of our own putting out extra ordinary performances.

I've watched athletics long enough to know that a lot of doping goes on, but I think it would  drive me round the bend scrutinising every outstanding performance to try and figure out if an athlete was doping or not.

By the way, 800m and 1500m should be 1111 1/9m, 3000m and 5000m should be 3333 1/3m.

I enjoy the Diamond League meets and the Relay Championships.

I wish that the Great City Games series had survived lockdown. the latter had events in Newcastle/Gateshead and in Manchester and always seemed to be fun events with top talent booked.

The best jump this millennium is 8.74 metres, that was by Dwight Phillips back in 2009.

I can remember watching Mike Powell break the world record in the 1991 World Championship final, in fact I laughed my head off, the look on Carl Lewis' face was priceless.

Yes, while here in the UK we can barely get a man to throw over 80 metres and the last British woman to throw over 60mtrs was Goldie Sayers who retired 10 years ago.

British track & field strengths have changed many times over the years, which is great for journalists who can pen endless "woe is us" pieces about the how previous hot event isn't delivering stars while ignoring the current success story.
