Did we ever finalise that list of London's grounds (under assorted team names) ?

I know we had a go and I believe we came up with 24 but I can't find the thread now.

Some folk from London were asking about it yesterday.

Thanks Les. I actually make it 29 grounds named, though some are disputed.

With the amount of staduims London has had they could have a Where's Wally Book in former Bronco's staduims.

Not hard to find Wally in a crowd of 850. A bit harder if the opposition are Oldham, I suppose.

I'm up to 30 now.  Plus two possibles - but I can't find them.

1  Craven Cottage

2  Polytechnic

3  Brentford

4  Crystal Palace

5  The Stoop

6  Copthall

7  Trailfinders, Ealing

8  Cherry Red

9  Rock

10  Richmond

11  Leyton Orient

12  Gillingham

13  Ebbsfleet

14  Wycombe Wanderers

15  Hive

16  Leicester Tigers

17  Talbot Athletic, Aberafan

18   Charlton

19   Stamford Bridge (not the one near York)

20  Wealdstone

21  Hendon

22  Crawley

23  Widnes

24  Esher

25  New River

26  Hilton Park

27  Rodney Parade

28  Brewery Field

29  Carcassonne

30  Perpignan

The two I can't find are Wigan and Kingston (on Thames, presumably, not Hull).  If anyone can narrow down the field, I'd be grateful.

Kingston meaning Kingstonian? Played Salford in the Cup there once.

It's now Kingsmeadow. Chelsea women play there.

I'm assuming this is just home games, I did ask my dad if he recalled any others, he could only think of the magic weekend games where we may have been considered the 'home team'

He didn't remember Talbot Athletic,  Rodney Parade or Brewery Field for home games. He thinks he may have a book somewhere that lists ahe the previous grounds

If I recall, we played a game at Tynecastle (Hearts FC) against Bradford Bulls in the late 90's.

The match where Steele Retchless set his world record of tackles.

I went to that.  It wasn't a home game.  It was a 1998 "On The Road" game.  Counts as neutral.

Magic Weekend games aren't home games for either team.

Talbot Athletic  8 June 2003

Rodney Parade  4 June 2000

Brewery Field  4 July 2005

Yeah - got that now.  27 Feb 2000.

The first paragraph on the page I was looking at was a note that Brian McDermott had been sacked as manager.

Of Woking. 😂

Just Wigan to go.  I'm guessing it would be Central Park - ie, last century.

Wigan was a CC first round tie against Barrow on Wednesday 26 February 1986(lost 26-14). Due to bad weather the game had been postponed more than once, and with the second round now due we were effectively ordered to play it by mid week and arranged to use Central Park ( our then owner Roy Close and Maurice Lindsay apparently knew each other before Fulham through Haydock Park racecourse). Central Park was used as it had undersoil heating.

I was at that one. I wish they'd had under terrace heating.

I assume that was a home game.

So that makes it 32 home grounds. Impressive.

When was the undersoil put in at Central Park as from what I can gather Wigan moved a game To Burnden Park the previous season for that reason?

Wigan upon Thames? Stretching it a bit geographically, but would give a good lift on property prices.

1985 - it was a good example of you can't cater for all idiots. When the they finished putting it in but hadn't tested it the installation company told Wigan that they must NOT switch it on yet. Give you all one guess as what happened!

I have it listed as "Wealdstone".  Or maybe "Hendon".
