We do need someone thinking about the game and why so many squads are completely hammered with injuries, and in some cases have been since early in the season. Something is causing it, presumably the amount of wrestling and some deficiencies in conditioning.

Anyway, Wigan will probably batter us.

Possible 4 players back for Warrington,  CTW, King,Sipley and Philbin.  If all materialise it evens things up. So could be more even than people think.

Looking forward to this one despite both teams missing players. The return of Thompson (assuming he's fit to play) is a big boost and should ensure the Wigan front row is strong enough to overcome the forced changes elsewhere in the side.

Thompson, Havard, Mago, McDermott and O'Connor is still a decent front row, with Ellis presumably at 13.

The biggest worry is probably Partington in the back row playing out of position, and how the younger players stepping in perform, such as Mason, Daniel/Cartwright and Buckley potentially in the halves.

I think we saw earlier in the year that sometimes if there are areas of the field that get targeted and struggle (the right edge in particular) we can get caught out.

I'd be leaning more towards Buckley making his debut in the halves to keep everything else as consistent as possible, but if necessary Keighran can move to 6, Eckersley to 3 and then Daniel and Cartwright on the wings, or Cartwright could go straight in at 3.

It's not an ideal situation but I think both teams missing key players gives the opportunity to put some trust in youth without too much to worry about.

Close close game. Wire haven't been great recently but Wigan have lost 7 players in 2 games and it's started to look a bit disjointed in attack. Much will rest on Harry Smiths shoulders and if he can help open up the Wire defence but I don't see there being loads of points.

The Wigan pack will be too good for Wire.

It looks like Keighran or Kerr at 6 with Buckley playing in the Academy game last night v Trinity. CTW and King back are big pluses for Wire but Wigan still have pace to burn.

Not too confident of CTW being available, Burgess has history of putting him in the squad when he has no chance of playing - not sure Philbin will be available either.

 

We have a real problem scoring points right now and I just don't see us scoring the 3 / 4 tries we will need to beat Wigan, comfortable loss I expect for Wire unless we can really improve.

Rumour is that Field has also done his hamstring  Dunno how true it is but someone has put it on one of our messageboards.

Confirmed that Field is out. We've got a decent front row but the outside backs could really struggle. 

Cartwright has only been playing fullback for the reserves because Hodkinson was called up to the first team, Daniel is 7th choice winger and O'Loughlin has seemed a bit weak physically in the reserves although his overall game has improved immensely since moving back to centre. 

I do not give us much of a chance tonight having seen the team. Too many areas where Wire should be able to target us.
