Always feels like there's more going on at Saints than meets the eye - another example. To be 6 points off the top of the league with the injuries they have is by no means a performance issue, so it begs many questions.

I think the issues at Saints run deeper than the coach, they seem to be in the situation Leeds are finally climbing out of.

I always thought Rowley would struggle at saints, coaching a team of plucky underdogs is way way different to the expectations at a club like St Helens

It’s not a squad capable of silverware but he’s the wrong man, it was obvious.

We’ve looked a shambles even with fully fit spine and he oozes a combination of smug defensiveness and small club mentality. Was a 50/50 gamble as an appointment and hasn’t looked right from early on.

Interesting next appointment, would be amazed if it’s not an Oz assistant coach.

What a shocking fall from grace.

I am constantly stunned when I look at the table and see Saints still very much in the shake-up for the Play-Offs. They have nearly always looked dire and blunt when I've watched them - apart from a few occasions such as the last 10 minutes against their nearest and dearest on Good Friday.

Saints need someone coming in with a Big Club mentality I feel.

It strikes me far more a decision based on off field activities not on

I'm struggling to think of a coach who has seemed so unsuited to a club, as Rowley did to Saints. At a club like St Helens you need to make the young players feel valued and trusted and it looked anything but. You also need to be humble enough to realise that lads who did well for Salford, in that environment, might not be able to produce the same in a high pressure environment. 

It seems a good move for both parties, with Saints able to get a more suitable replacement and Rowley's reputation still strong enough to give him opportunities at some other clubs.

Let me help you with that! Millward at Wigan. Far worse the Rowley has been for them. I get what you’re saying though and don’t disagree. With the Darby being tomorrow it does feel a strange time to do it!

Inmean I don’t think it’s a decision purely based on performances on the field, theyve had a bad time with injuries and to still be in a shout of a playoff position isn’t actually bad going.

im suggesting theres been a fallout between players and management but im just guessing

Not sure tbh many teams get a bounce when a coach leaves. Peet will be wary of this I'm sure.

I think that's a fair guess, looking at the shambles that seems to be going on there.
