HaxbyKnight Posted July 27 Posted July 27 Is this a good week to be playing Saints, they have no coach and a shed load of injuries? I know there were plenty of calls after Saturday for players to be dropped, but my response, firstly, would be to get players back in their proper positions. Injuries permitting, I'd go, Toa, Benny, Sam, Nikau, Galleano, Ata, Liam, Jack, Macca, Xavier, Ollie, Harvey Reynolds, and Thommo. Bench would be, Inman, Vaughan, Hudson and Jesse. The other 4 would be Balmforth, Foster, Hudson, and Vuniyayawa. Whoever plays, let's put last week to bed, and get behind the Knights in the hope we can pull off a shock.

Straight off the top of my head given no Noffer and probably no Jesse - Bennison, Harrison, Mata'afa, Galeano, Williams, McShane, Harris, Martin, Inman, Va'a, Field, Wood, Thompson. Bench - Vaughan, Balmforth, Hingano, Hudson or Jackson
StrennyKnight Posted July 27 Posted July 27 Did I miss something? Is Cody Hunter injured or suspended?...or are we all laying the blame for Saturday's below par team performance at his door? Would seem harsh to me. 2

Cody was no worse than anybody else on Saturday, but I beluve we need a bit more experience and creativity, especially when we are near their line, that's why I've gone for the 'ghost' this week. Cody will benefit from a rest. Edited July 28 by HaxbyKnight 1

We lacked spark and invention for much of the time on Saturday and I just feel a break for him might be a good thing, particularly as he's been carrying a knock. 1

Difficult to shine, especially if struggling with an injury, behind a forward pack that were being increasingly dominated by simply a more enthusiastic opposition - and then having the teams problems compounded by making numerous handling errors (and just switching off entirely) at the back. Anyway, on to this week - I trust that Mash will make the right decisions going into the Saints game.
georgeb1 Posted July 28 Posted July 28 might give dagger a chance again at fullback , toa looks out of sorts and probably carrying an injury, ata and liam deffo in the halves , cody is great but needs a break , hudson is a must as a interchange middle , the rest of the side will take care of its self. 2 1
cookesp Posted July 28 Posted July 28 I wonder why Hudson hasn’t been given more opportunities ? If I recall correctly, he was really good away at Cas. I also hope Mash puts players in their correct positions again eg Wood at centre, it would make sense to me but maybe there are more injuries than we say in public.

Can only think Hudson is injured cos he was outstanding at cas, him and Va'a laid the platform for that win.

grumpyoldtyke Posted July 28 Posted July 28 Whichever 21 Mash picks, we need to get behind the guys. We're playing a side from the wrong side of the Pennines on Saturday, which is Yorkshire Day. Our Knights represent the county city, one time host to English Kings and Parliament. Be great if we could all pull together a show of our Knights support with White Rose flags or whatever you can find to help lift the guys to show their Yorkshire grit and send Saints home with tails between their legs.

badger24 Posted July 28 Posted July 28 I know that ATA has take. Some stick this season but thought he made us look better when he was on the pitch Saturday . Like him at loose .
only 2 weeks away Posted July 29 Posted July 29 After last week I'd drop toa, been bobbins since he can back from injury. Anytime know what's happening with lipp, understand he's been great at toon and seems strange he got one pre season game and we haven't seen him since? Where's sangare, will be one of our biggest earners?
HaxbyKnight Posted July 29 Author Posted July 29 Got a change of whistler this week. Liam Rush is the man in the middle. Video ref., is Cameron Worsley, no change there then!

We have better forwards and with English signing I’d be surprised to see him back for York.
Rooney's Ears Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Chance here against Saints, they have some injuries - CHAMPIONS 2005

Odd one with Toa isn’t it he’s been very poor since his return from injury we don’t really have a replacement as dagger isn’t up to standard and lipp seems unable to play due to quota reasons. Its a shame as pre injury Toa was arguably one of the best full backs in the comp on performance His performance against wire at home was unbelievable he was using a running game that we’ve never seen from him before and he’s never used it since we saw a glimpse of how good he could be wonder why he stopped using it. 1
KH17 Posted July 30 Posted July 30 FB - Bennison WG - Djeukessi & Galeano C- Wood & Williams SO - Hunter SH - Macca PR - Martin & Va'a HK - Inman SR - Field & Foster LF - Thommo Bench - Balmforth, English, Vaughan & Sangare Put some players back in their natural positions and go with a big pack on the bench to out muscle a very young Saints side. Sangare or Hingano on the bench is the only one I'm iffy about. I've gone with Sangare to keep the game plan simple. Hopefully he's got his act together and some confidence after a few games at Newcastle Play how we did against Hull and Cas and we have a very good chance of getting the result. 1
only 2 weeks away Posted August 1 Posted August 1 So just about the same team that were rubbish last week.... Hope they've done some tackle practice or it will be a long old evening
