the-bearded-lefty Posted July 31 Posted July 31 Strong against good opponents. Should we just make the game into the 1895 final?

That would certainly solve Widnes fixture issue. They are clearly better than our win first game of the season but we are significantly better than in that game. Just a shame Morea isn't available.

Stephen Tokley Posted August 1 Posted August 1 The fact that quite a few of us will have made arrangements to travel over 400 miles to attend the final hasn't been mentioned. Would Widnes be liable? Someone told me that they had heard that Swinton were unwilling to play a mid week game in London. Who knows?

If the numpty RFL say play in midweek & they don't, would there be any difference to when we refused to travel to Toulouse during covid. No of course not, they can cop the points deduction, pay compensation for our costs incured & face a misconduct charge. 1
the-bearded-lefty Posted August 1 Posted August 1 If only it were possible to schedule a date for a cup final before the season starts... 1

Well they certainly knew when the league fixtures were, although perhaps they didn't expect so many clubs to go belly up even if Fax & NWC came back from the brink. Half the league in the playoffs is clearly dumb. RFL need to employ Baldric because any plans they do manage to make are not at all cunning.

How could Hughes get so many appointments wrong, Gus, Powell, Coleman to name but 3 & still manage to get it right with Danny Ward. Danny was of course in the right place at the right time so Hughes got lucky in that regard. I think we all needed counselling after Coleman's tenure, although I'm sure he tried his best.
Suffolk Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Widnes happened. Take nothing away from them. They scored on 72 minutes, a nicely worked offload and through the gap they went. Then found reserves of energy they probably didn't know they had, and momentum, urged on a one-eyed north stand crowd, and added another, and another...before falling just short. We were reduced to giving away pens (about 4, 2 of which were stonewall, 2 of which the crowd gave,) just to slow down their momentum. Ultimately they came up just short. I was more disappointed with our first half defence than Widnes' rally though. We made life very hard for ourselves as a consequence. 1 1
Deadcowboys1 Posted August 4 Author Posted August 4 It's bad news Jimmy dislocating his elbow. Voro's kicking was better but still missed 3. Need to ensure we score under the posts.
