The Final Five (Regular) Games

Can't believe we're five games away from the end (regular season wise, anyway) of our first season in the Championship. Time has absolutely flown by!

Currently 8th in the league with 21 points (10 wins, a draw, 8 losses). Bar some sort of catastrophe you would think we'd comfortably beat North Wales in their current form so 23 points is effectively guaranteed. Potentially up to 31 on offer. 

Sheffield are 7th with 26 points (as are Donny in 6th with a game in hand) so it feels like we're probably unable to climb any higher unless both have a disastrous run of form. 

Whitehaven are 9th with 17 points but we have a game in hand. Batley (10th) and Dewsbury (11th) are currently level on 16 points. Again feels like we're unlikely to drop out unless we fall apart and Batley/Dewsbury both have exceptional finishes. 

In terms of our upcoming opponents:

- Keighley (H) - you'd think we should win given Keighley's season and the fact they'll have played 3 games in 7/8 days but we've always had close contests and they've got a good squad. 

- Workington (H) - again a game we should win on paper but Town have always been difficult and their position in the table is not reflective of the game they gave us at Derwent Park. 

- Doncaster (A) - Donny will consider themselves favourites and be looking for revenge after that famous 26-24 home win at Avery Fields at the start of the season. We've shown we can do it, but it might be tough to replicate. 

- Newcastle (A) - Can't see anything but a loss in truth. Thunder have really pushed on since we first played them and with the number of strong York loanees they can rely on it's hard to imagine us leaving with the win.

- North Wales (H) - Would be hoping Mark looks at the points difference after the four previous games and - especially if negative - make the point to the lads that this needs to be a professional and clinical attacking performance. Would be hoping for a 60-70+ point win.

Based on the above I'm thinking a 27/29 point finish which would safely secure 8th place and easily our best ever league performance.
