Billy Slater surprise!

Billy Slater has surprised the NRL world by announcing he is stepping down as QLD coach after previously seeming to suggest he would carry on on a handshake for another year.

He thanked everyone and they thanked him.

Yes it is a surprise I was hoping he would do one more, but he does have other commitments and possibly (hopefully) becoming the next Storm Coach after Craig finishes next year!

I really hope he does, but it sounds unlikely according to early reports.

They say never say never, but currently it doesn’t seem like he’s interested in such a full time commitment.

There again it seemed like he’d do another series with QLD until he didn’t.
