I missed Workington and Dewsbury and we win, I'm back for today's game and we lose, i should stay away more often!

Plenty of effort and fight from the team today which was great to see, three games in the space of seven days is always going to be tough but we've handled it very well and all credit to GT and the team for that. If someone had offered two wins and a narrow defeat in this run of games you'd have snapped their hand off, considering the few weeks proceeding it!

Incredibly tough test next week but it'll be great to go out on a high, post match interview with GT will be up tomorrow in all the usual places.

Onwards hornets! 🐝

(P.S. apologies to any of you following the game on Twitter today, the timings in the second half were slightly off which meant i had to cut down on some of them to make up time, it's difficult when there's no clock and you're trying to guess!)

Always on the cards we would struggle in the second half backing up from midweek.

6 days rest before we finish the season with that lot from over Tandle Hill. Should be a few hundred more on the crowd given they are playing for position in the meaningless play offs.

Lets do to them what they did to Wimbledon.

Just fell short yesterday. Plenty of effort and graft, with some good spells in what was a fairly tight game for large periods. It felt like having three games in a week finally took its toll in the last 10-15 minutes.

Effectively losing Dalli from the middle fairly early on didn't help either, although credit to him he did limp on through the full 80 with what looked like some sort of muscle pull.  Even though it was effectively a "nothing at stake" fixture, Hunslet never stopped piling on the pressure. They had plenty of pride on the line, with a couple of their lads playing the final games of their careers, and they played like it.

Looking at the bigger picture, it's been a great seven days. I think every one of us would have taken two wins from three games if offered it beforehand, so I'm not too disappointed.

Now it's on to Oldham. We've got nothing to lose, and after that the focus turns to reflecting on the season and planning for next year.

Dare we dream and finish with a home win over the Biffos? That would be the perfect way to sign off the season. But regardless of the result, a respectable, honest performance is all I'm really asking for.

Three away games in seven days finally proved a bridge too far yesterday against a robust Hunslet side who, to be fair, were beatable — but we just didn’t quite have enough in the tank.

Again, we looked decent in spells and, as others have alluded to, Dallimore was a shadow of his usual self. That kick-at-goal attempt certainly caused an issue, followed by what looked like a fairly heavy limp for most of the game. Hopefully nothing too serious.

Two wins from three is still a decent return, especially after i had seemingly accepted that seeing another Hornets win this season was going to require divine intervention after our last home defeat! Credit once again to the coaching staff for getting the lads up, motivated and playing with plenty of passion over these last three games.

If only we could control  and manage the flow of games a little better, move off our own line when defending and put together a consistent 80 minutes, I honestly think we’d have squeezed another 3 or 4 wins out of this season.

I’ve been impressed with the additions of Barratt, Ione, Hansen and Roby. They’ve made a big difference and I’d be delighted if we could retain them. Ethan Wood, Hatton, Dayes and Unsworth have also been putting in some proper shifts lately — the sort of graft you want to see in a Hornets shirt.

And then there’s Oldham next week…

They’ll no doubt be more buoyant and vocal than usual. Bless them, one decent season and suddenly the Roughyeds think they’ve invented rugby league. 😂 A long way from the Whitebank days!

All I ask is for 100% from our lads, just like we gave at Stalybridge over Easter. Give them nothing, compete for everything and make sure wearing the shirt means as much on the pitch as it does to us in the stands.

Onward Hornets. 🐝

Oooooh dear. You walked into that one.

We don't think we did, we know we did. If any town can make that particular boast its Oldham. I guess you haven't heard of Joseph Platt,  son of Oldham, Father of Rugby League?

They may say Huddersfield is the birthplace,  but its Oldham where, arguably, it was conceived and where it was brought up and where, for its first 20 years it called home.

Just ask Tony Collins.
