Bedford Roughyed Posted August 30 Posted August 30 (edited) This is the best visual representation I have found. If there are better please post! Numbers are wrong for week 2, but the rest seems to be right? Taken from - Edited September 6 by Bedford Roughyed 1 With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!
Enk27 Posted August 30 Posted August 30 This looks right. Obviously as we saw last year, nothing is a given in the playoffs. But our personal nightmare would be beating Widnes and then Newcastle losing to Doncaster/Barrow. That would lock in the fact that if we lose to London then we’d need to play them again down in London for the Semi Finals. Again slight irony that may be better tactically (and financially) to lose vs Widnes. Which means max of one trip to London. 1
Bedford Roughyed Posted September 6 Author Posted September 6 Bumping as it’s relevant lol. StockportRoughyed Posted September 6 Posted September 6 Im not expecting a sensible reply as it is the Rugby League that are running the competition! But why was Oldham's reward for finishing 3rd a match against the 5th placed team whilst Doncaster's reward for finishing 4th was a game against the 6th placed finisher. Similarly next week London's reward for winning the league is to host the higher placed qualifier whilst Newcastle's reward for finishing 2nd is to place the lower placed qualifier! Rant over... 2

sheddingswasus Posted September 6 Posted September 6 Because the RFL cocked up this play off series so badly

The Art of Hand and Foot Posted September 6 Posted September 6 Have I got this right? Widnes are now in the group of death, in that they are likely to meet London in the semis? Where as we cant get them till the final? 1

No, Widnes are in the qualifying section so still have a life if they lose to London whereas we are in the elimination section so we are at jeopardy of going out of the competition if we lose.
ultimate roughyed Posted September 6 Posted September 6 Ok, so we have to win next week to stay in the competition. Midlands will be a tough nut to crack and I'm not counting my chickens but IF we did win, what are the likely permutations for the following week? Home teams win (London/Newcastle) means we play Widnes away. London and Widnes win.........we play Doncaster away Doncaster and Widnes win...... we go to Newcastle Definitely best not get ahead of ourselves and just concentrate on beating Midlands next week...... whoever we play is totally out of our control so just need to get the job done next week! 1
Jimmy DoNut Posted September 7 Posted September 7 So every chance we'll be playing Widnes again IF we beat Midlands. What a shambles. We should have played Barrow yesterday (3v6) , a far less difficult game than Widnes, as Doncaster proved by beating them 72-0. Donny's reward for finishing a place below us was getting the weaker team! If we do have to go to Widnes in a fortnight (no disrespect intended to Midlands at all) , what a game that promises to be. We'll be away from home, underdogs, with a point to prove, the pressure will all be on them. Our away support will be out in force. Yes we do have to win on Sunday first & hope Widnes lose at Newcastle. 2
Enk27 Posted September 7 Posted September 7 So is this Sunday effectively our last home game unless something weird happens?

No, in theory we could be at home in the final if the other team we are playing finished below us in the league! But definitely away from home in week 3 and week 4, that's a given now.
ultimate roughyed Posted September 7 Posted September 7 That said, we might be better playing away from BP as in modern history we haven't won a play off game at BP! Midlands will have fond memories of their 1895 victory at BP so I'm really worried about Sunday now.
The Art of Hand and Foot Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Am I right in thinking that given the result today that if we win tomorrow well be playing Newcastle at theirs?

No, Newcastle are now through to the final round. sb01 Posted September 13 Posted September 13 In thr non Oldham side of the competition it could be Week 1 Doncaster v Barriw Week 2 London v Doncaster Week 3 Doncaster v Barroe Week 4 London v Dincaster I dont think that was the RfLs intention but it does not look goid if thst is the series of games. 4

The Art of Hand and Foot Posted September 17 Posted September 17 (edited) Saw this on FB. If we win and Donny win we go to london, barrow win we go to Newcastle. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1Uac7mZLtT/ Edited September 17 by The Art of Hand and Foot

My understanding is:- Doncaster and Oldham win - London v Doncaster & Newcastle v Oldham Barrow and Oldham win - London v Barrow & Newcastle v Oldham Doncaster & Widnes win - London v Widnes & Newcastle v Doncaster Barrow & Widnes win - London v Barrow & Newcastle v Widnes. So we go to Newcastle if we win, irrespective of the other result. Now if I'm wrong, I apologise for being a smart ######, because I know no-one loves a smart-###### 1 1
