AB Knight Posted August 31 Posted August 31 (edited) The final countdown is ridiculous when you see who’s playing who and the points difference. Michael Jagger of Dartford once told us we won’t always get what we desire but I feel York deserve something other than bottom, biased as I am I don’t even think 2nd bottom is just rewards for a season where so far out of 25 rounds they’ve competed or at least been competitive for 23 of the rounds (Wigan and Leeds at the LNER aside). Bradford will point to injuries, and to be fair to them they had a good start before ending up with unavailable players. Huddersfield seem like they’ve finally woken up over the last month or so, but were abysmal for 90% of the season. Hull FC are just odd. Always have been always will be. Terrific support but they never seem settled. Cas - Less said about them the better! Final 2 rounds below. georgeB recently said on this forum he thinks there’s one more big performance left in York and I 100% agree. I reckon that will be against Bradford, which the Knights will need to win anyway assuming defeat in Catalans. Then again, if Cas win Thurs, and York don’t get pumped in Catalans, Bulls would still need to win at the LNER by a big figure to overtake us……but there I go with the different permutations again! Round 26 Thursday 3rd Bradford vs Castleford 8pm Friday 4th Toulouse vs Hull FC 6pm Hull KR vs Huddersfield 8pm Saturday 5th Catalans vs York 6pm Round 27 Thursday 11th York vs Bradford 8pm Friday 12th Huddersfield vs Castleford 8pm Leeds vs Hull FC 8pm Edited August 31 by AB Knight
Expatknight Posted August 31 Posted August 31 If Sylvain Houles isn’t up for Super League coach of the year something is seriously wrong, if we had won a couple more I think Mash deserved to be in the reckoning, especially as both teams have done what they have with lowest funding and basically the team that was in the Championship last season. 3

What a way to run a sport. Edited August 31 by HolmeKnight 1

The kick off time can be quite different depending on where you look - BBC 5pm, OurLeague 8pm, YorkRL website 6pm (CET).... but Catalans have the kick off time listed as 1900 CET (6pm UK time) as do Sky, so that's the one I'm going with 1
HaxbyKnight Posted August 31 Posted August 31 I hope somebody tells the Knights what time the kick off is!

Those are in my room 101! 1
Rooney's Ears Posted September 3 Posted September 3 https://www.loverugbyleague.com/post/super-league-relegation-wooden-spoon-img If things finished today, York would get a performance score of 3.2353 – a rise of 0.8496. But don’t forget, every team can score a maximum extra point in this aspect of the criteria this year, so all the five teams in the mix to finish bottom are getting a rise of some sort. But if York got to 10th? Their average would rise sufficiently to get them a score of 3.3824 – a rise of 0.9967; essentially a full extra point. For context, London’s score will go up by 0.8941 if they win the Championship Grand Final – we are talking potentially razor thin margins. We need to finish as high as possible in the league for the Performance score to also be as high as possible. If (and i think they will) Bradford beat Castleford tonight that will put us joint bottom. We need to get a win at Catalans otherwise the last game of the season will be a nail biter. We have a better points difference to Bradford of 98 points but after tonights result and also Saturdays that could be a lot closer. CHAMPIONS 2005

It will be que all the York should be relegated they finished bottom etc etc etc from the Bradford and London fans. CHAMPIONS 2005
Rooney's Ears Posted September 3 Posted September 3 The way Bradford are playing they will beat us unfortunately 1 1 CHAMPIONS 2005

I was at both York - West Wales Raiders matches, even in the 79th minute Raiders players were attempting to tackle, still trying to get back. Last night Cas weren’t even jumping for high balls, the wingers were getting the ball and straight away were looking to take the tackle, the halves were woeful. People talk about either York or Huddersfield making way for London, if it comes to it (whatever IMG results in) but Castleford have been a car crash for too long now. 2

Yep, just left a similar comment on the Bulls-Cas match thread.
Rooney's Ears Posted September 4 Posted September 4 A win on Saturday (Huddersfield and Hull FC both beaten) could move us up to 10th. Now that would be nice. 2 CHAMPIONS 2005

only 2 weeks away Posted September 4 Posted September 4 13 hours ago, Rooney's Ears said: The way Bradford are playing they will beat us unfortunately Yeah but next week they'll be on a full size pitch and the opposition will be able to see the ball under proper floodlights 3
rich f Posted September 4 Posted September 4 A team put together from the barmy army after a week on the beer in France would've beaten Cas last night! Bradford showed some good effort but ability wise they are incredibly poor. The short turn around doesn't help the Knights at all, but they should be very confident of getting a win and posting a big score against them next Thursday. 5
Rooney's Ears Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Moved up to 12th after tonights results. 1 CHAMPIONS 2005
Expatknight Posted September 4 Posted September 4 A win tomorrow will go a long way to securing our spot, there is no reason why the boys can’t bring home the bacon, for want of a better term, and then bring on the Bulls, even with the travelling and quick turnaround I think we will prevail ( it is almost as if the RFL have planned to make it as difficult as it could be for our final game of the season, but surely they wouldn’t dream of doing such a thing ) 1
rich f Posted September 5 Posted September 5 Sat having a coffee and croissant overlooking the sea and feeling very confident that the lads can do this today. Im actually more confident of winning this than I was in Toulouse. I just think this group has one more special performance in them and today will be the day. 3

I actually think you'll beat Catalans tonight. Then we win at your place with Hull & Cas the Bottom 2 and then some of the London fans heads fall off that it was pre-planned all along and still the argument continues about 14 clubs.
