jroyales Posted August 31 Posted August 31 I believe we are playing Widnes this weekend. We need to be better with the ball than we have in our last two games to beat them. However, losing to them keeps us away from London until the final so really it's not a game to get too upset about. 1
Anita Bath Posted August 31 Posted August 31 Only in RL…..a team has a clear incentive to lose a game…and in the play offs. 1 3 1

shrewsbury roughyed Posted August 31 Posted August 31 Widnes beaten 32-10 by London in the 1895 final, giving a good account of themselves certainly for the first half it seems. How much has it taken out of them physically and emotionally is the question. 3

Bedford Roughyed Posted September 1 Posted September 1 4 With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!
Roughyed 71 Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Where is the Final Held. Someone said on sunday it will be played at a Neutral Ground

Sheddings paddock Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Wonder if the club are considering putting away fans in the Rochdale Road End? Got a feeling Widnes will come in numbers - and if we hopefully gain a few - could get quite ‘cosy’ in the Joe Royle stand. 2
winedrinkerme Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Just got our tickets and you can purchase all the cushioned seats for the pie and peas so not sure if it’s sit where you want or not

If not, the London game becomes completely pointless, and Sunday's loser has a far easier route to the Final. The farce of Newcastle finishing second having not had to face any of the top Championship clubs, together with the nonsense of the play off format, illustrates the RFL's flair for producing the utterly bizarre. No wonder RL is often seen as a joke by other sports and their fans. 4

It only looks like we get home advantage for the Preliminary Final if we beat London away in week 2 (and beat Widnes this weekend of course!). Grand Final home advantage being purely on Final league positions.
Widnes1989 Posted September 3 Posted September 3 Widnes fan in peace Just about to order some tickets for Sunday's game on your website, is there a particular area that away fans tend to buy in, I thought they may have opened a stand for us as I'd expect a decent following but only appears to be the main stand on sale. Any help would be much appeciated! Looking forward to another good game between two great clubs.

Hi Widnes1989 Your correct, as it stands i think tickets are only available to purchase for the one stand (Joe Royle Stand), you purchase a specific seat but in reality its a free for all and you sit where you want (apart from corporate & hospitality seats of course). The Joe Royle stand however holds about 2.5k and given the significance of the game and hopefully lots of Oldham fans plus a large contingent of visiting Widnes supporters for me it would be common sense to open a section of the "Jimmy Frizzel" stand behind the sticks and allow all Widnes fans to sit together. I think this would make for a better atmosphere on the day so hopefully as i say common sense prevails. Think though it will depend on how many tickets are purchased in advance before a decision is made but for me this would be the sensible option. Here's looking forward to a cracking game on Sunday as long as its the right result for Oldham 2

I don’t think it’s certain to be London - although most likely.

Take your chance if you wish re cushioned seats but could well be moved for sponsors/directors and the like!
