I'm regularly buying things that I don't use.

Sometimes I like items to stay as brand new.

I have 4 pairs of trainers from about 4 years ago that have never been worn.

I also bought a fancy kitchen knife, never used it.

This sounds like me. I am murder for buying stuff and just wasting it by saving it so as to not spoil it but then never using it!

Why not use a good blade? Was it a fancy good knife, or an overpriced con-job like those grotesque Huusk things?

Anything to do with chopping or processing food. Gets brought out once, is a ###### to clean and gets put away.

I have real guilt over stuff that has been bought for the kids over the years that they've never used or used once, such wastage. An electric drum kit and VR headset being two main examples.

Oh I once bought one of those sets of rollers that you use to cycle indoors.

Tried to get on once and never again.

I did actually make a small profit on eBay 😂.

Seriously, as soon as we hit the depths of Winter, I'll be looking at AC prices. Right now, they'll be hiked up a lot due to the weather we've just had.

A jar of Vegemite.

Was curiosity when I first moved to Australia. I had previously consumed Marmite when I was a kid so this was a novelty. I have seen Aussies eat it for breakfast but I simply cannot bring myself to try it.

One of my pet hates is when my wife gets something and then declares that she is "saving it for best". I know that this is a bit of a throw back to the 50s and 60s when people used to have special cabinets to put these "special" things in but this is the 21st century. Now I have best whiskey that was bought for a special birthday, best glasses, best coat (its now 30 yrs old) etc etc etc. I know that these are not strictly in the "never used" category but they are so close it isn't funny and what are they being saved for anyway ?

I was at my in-laws with the kids at Christmas and I was trying to explain to them why Granny and Granda have plates locked up in cupboards that are never used. They thought it was the craziest idea they'd ever heard of.

My gran and grandad passed away within a short while of each other. We never did find out who the good stuff was for.

For the same reason, if you're considering solar panels get them in winter

Yeah, the kids today don't buy into that old philosophy (and rightly so in my view). I guess it is what comes of having too much money in that they don't value things in the way older generations did. I am sure that the whole "saving for best" generation only adopted the approach because they never had anything and anything they did have they wanted to show off to their friends.

Similar but mine has been used twice. Once, when it was necessary as our cul de sac got a proper amount of snow in an hour that then froze. Temperatures didn't get above zero for the rest of the week and there was no grit. We used said shovel and a few other bits to clear the road.

The other time it was the nearest implement to hand to crack some ice on the drive that wouldn't shift.

So twice in thirteen years.

Interesting that you went for the deluxe. Personally I prefer the supreme. I just feel it gathers less dust.
