Deadcowboys1 Posted September 3 Posted September 3 Interesting squad for the last league game of the season. A chance for some young guns to show their skill.
BigTime Posted September 3 Posted September 3 Should be a good run out for Hartley and Ramsden and I suspect Oakley will get a game. It looks a little makeshift so it’s difficult to say how strong it will be but I hope we can get the ball out to Tindall so he can rack up a few tries. 1
the-bearded-lefty Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Potentially last game for Lovell and Walker (Morea fitness withstanding)?
Deadcowboys1 Posted September 4 Author Posted September 4 Looks like Teddy will get another run out. 1

I suppose it depends what division we’re playing in next season. I thought Walker was excellent last weekend, especially under the high ball- I’m not sure Morea would have done so well- although he obviously brings others attributes. Hope it’s not the last game for them as I can’t be there this weekend. 1
RfE Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Makes sense to rest certain players before the playoffs- also it should give some of these fringe players a competitive run out just in case. 1

It must be a little hard when the parade moves on as it has. I agree with you that as a full back Walker is better in many departments than Morea but it’s obvious the latter is first choice. For Lovell I wonder if he may work exclusively with the reserves as coach, stepping in when required. JD always speaks well of them when their names come up but it’s clear they are not at the front of his mind. To my surprise Tindall seems to have gone the same way. When he talks about the north hemisphere players not obvious starters its Stock, Adebiyi and Ben HH he tends to mention. It is what it is and rugby is very attritional so may be smart to go out on a high and fully focus on new(ish) careers that will hopefully be paying the bills for the next 30 years.

the-bearded-lefty Posted September 5 Posted September 5 Teddy at FB interesting. Good luck to them all! Sid building a bit of fitness I guess.

BigTime Posted September 5 Posted September 5 Overall a good match. Three new reserves who started did well although the 31s kicking from hand could improve (he kept going though) 33 and 35 in particular did well ( although latter sent off). Tindall looked lively. Davis scored a good try and Stock had an impactful game. I think it’s fair to say their kicker is an enigma. He had the uncanny knack of kicking the ball exactly where no one expected it. I spent the first half an hour thinking he was the worst kicker of all time and then realised he’s one of the best - there really was no way of telling where he’d put the ball- absolute maverick.

Sadly for the Swinton fella some of them hit his own team mate. Basically the guy who got sent off was the Lee Harvey Oswald it was his team mate who was the main protagonist. Wouldn’t be surprised if he has to sit out a few games at the start of next season. 1
BigTime Posted September 7 Posted September 7 I see the fella that took a few whacks has picked up a 3 match ban but our guy is up before the tribunal and may get more. Even more strange the guy who started it all, Kelly, pushed Jones face into the turf and had his forearm pressed against the back of his neck as well as being involved in the ‘altercation ’ picked up nothing. Do they actually watch the footage? it’s pretty clear. V. Poor.
