Damien Posted September 8 Posted September 8 May as well have a thread as other clubs had one! On the face of it this doesn't seem to be bad to me. You'd expect losses from a club undergoing the sort of growth and investment into facilities that Wakefield are. The large increase in turnover is good to see and you'd expect another big bump in 2026:
dboy Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Well aware of the money he's put into players, but it's the money he's put into the facilities that's so impressive - and so heavy on the balance sheet. He's got the West and North stand developments to fund yet too. 3
Eddie Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Certainly a club with a real buzz about them who as an armchair fan I enjoy watching on tv. 5
OMEGA Posted September 8 Posted September 8 (edited) The investments being made by Matt Ellis and the other members of the Ellis family are prudent, well thought out and strategic, they’re not just throwing money about haphazardly. They have wisely invested in the coaching and staffing personnel, we now have experts in their respective fields informing future plans and further investments. E.g. John Bastian and Simon Bell consulting on how the Youth System should evolve in order to become the best in Rugby League or the obvious one, Ste Mills driving our player recruitment by scouring the world for players with huge potential who just need an opportunity to reach it! The business acumen is there in abundance already and that’s what’s informing the restructure of things like our merchandising, The Coach House, hospitality and events staging. Even the stadium redevelopment is numbers driven with an eye on maximising the revenue from new stands and dictates when those stands have enough demand to get built. The new Training Facility is an investment in all of the above! World Class Quality facilities will help maximise the performances of our current players, they will help to convince future targets that Wakefield Trinity are a serious contender, they will attract the best Youth Players to the club. All of this will manifest itself in the performances of our teams which will in turn will drive greater attendances, demand for hospitality and the desire to Sponsor and Partner with the Club. So right now I can see that losses are well thought out and part of the strategic plan for the future of a club that’s heading in the right direction and which one day will wash its own face in terms of its finances. Damien Posted September 8 Author Posted September 8 All that is great to see. Wakefields growth is good for the game and good for Super League. As I said originally losses are more than expected when you are growing and investing as Wakefield are. When turnover has practically doubled, with much better to come next year for 2026, the growth is evident. 4

One question, what is The Coach House?

It's open 7 days a week ,morning to night . It offers meals from breakfast right through to the evening. Also you may notice that small half built stand Infront of it. That will be an extension for match day hospitality and will be pretty unique in its design once completed. 1

Agbrigg Posted September 8 Posted September 8 I would also add, those much maligned bendidorm flats are now a superb facility. Totally re vamped and modernised. Matt has also put in a lift at the side as part of the upgrade. 1

Could call it a Sports Bar but that too might take away standout features such as the quality and choice of food available within an impeccably fitted out interior. Will be even better when the outdoor mezzanine overlooking the pitch is completed. This world was never meant for one as beautiful as me. Father Ted Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Considering the extent of the investment Ellis has made the loss of £1.4m seems surprisingly low to me. He's pushed the crowd up this last two seasons and the turnover has gone up massively. With investment in the stadium, first team and the pathway levels the future beyond this season appears very bright. Well done to Ellis and the Wakefield folk for backing him! 2

It’s also busy all the time, I must have been 20 times, different days, different times and everytime it’s been busy. It was also used as a fanzone for the Football World Cup and there must have been 300 people there for the England games. Its been a massive success
