New Tigers signing Blair eyeing up debut on Friday

New Castleford signing Cheyse Blair has expressed a desire to make his debut in the club’s clash with Warrington on Friday.

The Tigers centre arrived in the country yesterday and linked up with his new team-mates on Wednesday.

Cas take on Warrington this Friday, and the former Melbourne centre wants to waste no time pulling on his new colours.

“I’m hoping it’s Friday (the debut) depending on how the body goes but I’m looking forward to it,” he told the club’s official website.

“I’ve had a lot of fans contact me through social media telling me how good this place is when there’s a game on here so I’m looking forward to that.

“I’m very excited. It was a long flight yesterday to get here. I’ve heard some good things about the place and looking around it is great.

“Waiting for my visa I’ve watched the last three games. The club is obviously going through a few injuries so I’m looking forward to getting a game either this week or next week and help win a game.”

The 27-year-old is an NRL Grand Finalist, and he wants to add the Super League equivalent to his CV during his three-and-a-half year deal with the club.

“I want to sit down with the group and see what goals they’ve got for the rest of this year.

“It’s always to play semi-final football and reach the finals. I want to be playing week in and week out and helping the team and the club get there and make the club proud.

“I’d been with the Storm and not getting much of an opportunity. I had an opportunity to come here, I sort of looked both ways and said that was the best opportunity for me and my family.”
