Warrington winger Tom Lineham is said to have fully recovered after accidentally setting himself on fire.
It was a second lockdown scare for the England Knights star, who was laid low by what was believed to be coronavirus in April.
Lineham, 27, was carrying a petrol can when it exploded in his hand. Firefighters were called to his home.
His partner, Vicky Braithwaite, told of the incident on social media, writing: “Cannot believe I have just witnessed a petrol can explode in Tom’s hand and set him on fire.”
Former York and Hull player Lineham believes he caught coronavirus from Vicky, who works at a Wigan hospital.
The 6ft 2in star, who weighs in at 16st 9lb and is nicknamed the ‘Flying Pig’, later said he felt like he had been “hit by a bus”.
Lineham, who is next year set to play outside Greg Inglis after the Australian ace signed for Warrington, figured in all seven of the Wolves’ pre-lockdown games, scoring four tries.
Last season, he crossed twelve times in 23 outings in all competitions, and made his second England Knights appearance, scoring two tries in the 38-6 win over Jamaica at Headingley.
Lineham has been at Warrington since a reported £125,000 transfer from Hull 2016, when he overcame a loss of form that led to him being temporarily farmed out to Rochdale to feature in the Grand Final defeat by Wigan.
After losses to Catalans in the Challenge Cup final and Wigan in the Grand Final in 2018, he helped the Wolves lift the Challenge Cup last year with an 18-4 Wembley win over St Helens.
