More injury frustration for Leeds captain Stevie Ward

Leeds are set to be without captain Stevie Ward for another week as he continues to overcome a concussion.

Ward suffered a delayed concussion in the days following the club’s defeat to Hull FC and is still suffering from symptoms.

As a result, the back-rower has not been cleared to play and will almost certainly miss Saturday’s clash with Salford.

It’s another blow for Ward, who has suffered a string of injuries in recent years that has limited his playing opportunities.

“Stevie’s symptoms haven’t cleared up yet so he isn’t able to start his return to play protocols so that will rule him out this weekend,” head coach Richard Agar said.

“He is frustrated but there’s nothing he can do. There are stringent rules in place for concussion and how we manage them and at this moment in time he’s not symptom-free so we just have to wait.”

Agar confirmed the Rhinos reported a free bill of health following their win over Hull Kingston Rovers.
