Rugby League reacts to another obstruction saga

The Challenge Cup quarter-final between Wigan Warriors and Castleford Tigers has been the centre of yet another controversial obstruction farce, with a number of tries being chalked off due to the interpretation of the ruling.

It is a hark back to the Super League clash between the Warriors and Salford Red Devils last month, where the video referee grabbed all the attention with a number of seemingly bizarre decisions.

Yet again, a number of high-profile players and ex-players have taken to social media to vent their frustration at the decision, and here a selection of some of those reactions to yet another bizarre afternoon of Rugby League.

Former Salford coach Phil Veivers: “No consistency with this obstruction rule. Joke”

Bradford winger Elliot Kear: “This obstruction rule is absolute bab!! #getrid”

Halifax player Gareth Potts: “This obstruction rule is killing rugby league!!! #mickcrocker”

League Express reporter Gareth Walker: “Obstruction rule needs to go back to being when a defender is actually prevented from making a tackle. Current interpretation nonsense”

Huddersfield Giants winger Jodie Broughton: “That rule ruins the game! It should be a try! The Wigan lad made the wrong decision!”

Bradford Bulls captain Matt Diskin: “OMG! Not obstruction in a million years! #shambles
