Vikings suffer major injury blow

Widnes Vikings could be without forward Connor Farrell for the rest of the season after it was confirmed he requires knee surgery.

The Wigan loanee limped off in the Vikings’ recent victory over Hull KR after suffering the injury late on it the match.

Farrell, 22, only joined Widnes in the off-season after signing a new long-term deal with Wigan. The move to the Super League leaders was to aid his development, with opportunities at the Warriors set to be limited.

It comes as a big blow to Denis Betts, with Farrell being one of the team’s unsung heroes in their early season success.
